I don't think it's even a contest. Go Carlos Go! Unless they completely suck it in the playoffs (it could happen, these are the Mets afterall) and an underdog sneaks in. But I think the AL wins it anyway. Who knows?
Yes, the Mets are pretty clearly the favourites, but I picked the D'Backs. Pure hunch.
I see the Cardinals as the Buffalo Bills of the baseball world -- maybe not Losing Four Straight Super Bowls or the like, but close. Constantly getting close but never over the top, thanks to the AL dominance.
The Braves have to be a sleeper at this point, they just added Wickman to close out games, providing Cox doesn't blow out his arm by pitching him in 40 consecutive games like he has every other solid reliever for the past decade. The Bravos are hot, playing in a weak division, and always have had the guile that keeps them from being counted out. Maybe the streak ends, but a wild card berth and strong playoff run could be possible from the team everyone was counting out in mid-june.
It's gotta be the reds. After that trade they made to shore up their middle relief, they're gonna be unstoppable!
