Now that Aaron Hill is locked up long term based on a 2nd baseman's stipend its a perfect time to move him to SS.
Had we moved him to short before locking him up he would have cost us plenty more to retain.
Its far less expensive to secure a 2nd baseman with a big league bat than a SS.
If given the opportunity I'm sure Hill would steadily improve his defence at SS perhaps eventually becoming a better than average defender at the position.
Furcal!
Oh and I hope Newton isn't serious...that'd be terrible, like brining up Adam Lind, promising him the starting job, giving him a look of only 19 AB and then sending him down. Hmmm. OK, I wouldn't put it past this organization doing that to Hill then now that I think about it.

Marco Scutaro proved his value tonight. It's not a problem.
Even now I bet Fernandez could outhit most of those guys and field better than many of them.
Heh. Craig, sure, What would that take to get from NYY? Eckstein, Halladay and McGowan?
Not that Toronto would do that, but I think that'd be about the starting asking price.
And good thing you have that "when everyone's healthy" caveat!
I'd like to see a shortstop platoon of Marcum and Halladay.
Presumably there is something in the rules that would prevent Toronto from rotating the two between shortstop and pitcher throughout the game while maintaining the privilege of the DH.
While I expect they could switch them at will (perhaps not) I can't imagine they could keep the DH going while doing so. I know if the DH moves to field a position, the pitcher must bat for himself, but is there a similar complication with the pitcher moving to a fielding position?
Couldn't possibly work.
