I'll be shocked if Doc doesn't get more than 90 percent in this poll ... you have a legitimate ace, you don't trade the ace unless you get two aces and a bat coiming back in return.
Three years from now, the Cardinals offer you Pujols and Burnett for Halladay. Do you do it?

Unless we lock down Doc long term, we can consider offers for him.
What are we going to trade Halladay for, at least strait up anyway? He's not making that much money now (well, for his talent), and he's under contract for two more years.
The list of players that you could trade Halladay for straight up, to me, would be Santana, Pujols, maybe Bay, maybe Teixara, Miguel Cabrera, and DWright. aka the best, young players in the Majors.

I understand the business of baseball, but I think that what makes him such a prize is that Toronto brought him up themselves, rather than just dishing out big bucks for him at FA signing. He's a symbol of a strong ball club from top to bottom. He's also a philanthropist and an active member of the community. I think a trade involving him would get some people shot. LOL
Doc is clearly the Jays MVP & when healthy the best pitcher in the AL. Anyone can be traded. Why trade Doc?
1) Only if you can acquire young proven talent with fixed costs in return i.e. Rich Harden & Jason Bay & Jeff Francis for the ACE (clearly hard for any team to do)
2) Doc has two years left on a deal that will consume roughly 16% of the 2006 payroll. If a reasonable contract extension is not feasible, put Doc's name into the ring & see what comes at you for opening offers...if there is a scenario where you can get Bay & Harden & Francis, you do it.
3) Doc has been injured for the past two seasons(parts of both), thus what if 2006 leads to yet another extended DL stay for Doc? Questions now arise concerning his durability & value in trades YET the Jays will stay have to pay him large $ to stay in TO

Nobody is untouchable; there are just degrees of reluctance.
I'd be very reluctant to trade Aaron Hill, because his future is so unknown.
I would not be reluctant in the least to trade Roy Halladay. He's a very valuable player, but his value is known. He's unlikely to be traded for the simple reason that it would be well nigh impossible to find a trading partner willing to offer value for value. Pujols for Halladay? If untouchable means "will not trade under any circumstances, including but not limited to the Pujols hypothetical", then the answer to the poll question is obviously "nobody is untouchable".
Under that definition of untouchable, to vote otherwise is patently absurd.
If we were to amend to poll question to read: "[w]ho is the most 'untouchable' Jay when it comes to reasonably foreseeable trades", or to remove the "nobody is untouchable" option altogether, then yeah, Doc's the answer.

Perhaps I overrate Wells (though I didn't vote for him), but I think it's closer than I had first reckoned between him and Halladay, especially when you consider his beautiful, beautiful contract.

There's no such thing as un untouchable player.
If I was the Jays GM and Terry Ryan gave me a phone call asking me if I would be interested in Santana for Doc, I would say yes right away.
