I find it interesting that the top three vote-getters in this poll, as
I write this anyway, are the three NL teams listed. Is this a
condemnation of the Nl overall? Or does it just reflect the fact that
we tend to overrate what we know best? Or something else entirely like,
I dunno, chance?
I'm a little surprised that San Diego is leading the poll, although I probably shouldn't be. They have a narrow lead in a three team race. Rather like the Mets, in fact (who get my vote.)
Wow, does the NL Central suck.

I keep seeing a Boston collapse in the future, costing them the playoffs and their manager his job. For some reason that team just has that feel about them this year. Of course, they always have had that feeling outside of '04.

Even in '04
If you have ever read Stephen King & Stewart O'Nan's "diary" of that season, Faithful, you would find that all through the year there was unbelievable angst amonsg Red Sox fans that everything would collapse and go away.
While not a great book, or even really a baseball book, Faithful is entertaining from that point of view.
