While I really like watching him play ball, I was convinced that last year was a total fluke based on an absurd BIP hit-rate. Still early in the season, but holy smokes is he making me look dumb.
Not that this is unusual.
For me, it was easy; I went with the one name I actually didn't recognize when I was building the poll -- Cory Sullivan. And he could have been listed in more than "just" triples.
Not recognizing a ballplayer's name. That never would have happened back in the day ...
I pick Arroyo. I didn't like this trade from Boston's point of view fom the get-go (but loved it as a Jays fan). While I don't think he'll continue his lights-out start (hence the shocker pick) I also don't think he got the respect his numbers deserved in Boston.
A very serviceable 3rd-4th starter that'll be missed that much more when Beckett and/or Schilling hit the DL.
Big budget teams seem to get enamoured with the big name/big contract guys, often just because they can, and forget the importance of quality mid-level talent to the success of the "team".
