I voted for Small, but do want to express surprise that nobody even nominated the overall team performance of the Washington Nationals.
I voted for Derek Lee, but it didn't compute. That's electronic voting for you.
wcdude, I added yur vote for Lee. Don't know why it didn't take. Are you signed in?
Wellllllll, Griffey as of now ISN'T completely healthy as he is listed day to day with a strained foot. I learned this last night watching the Reds vs Braves.
True, Alex, but if he plays nine more games this year, he will surpass in 2005 his total games played for 2003 and 2004 combined (136) ... and he has a real chance to play the most games he's ever played in one seasona as a Red (145 in 2002).
I think he's already passed "healthy" expectations for the year.
These are the words of NFH on April 8, 2005, Opening Day in Toronto. What most excites NFH?
"I cannot wait to hear the new sound system."
That is the most shocking thing about the 2005 season so far.:)

Game, I know Pettitte, who is one of my favorite players, is having a career year in ERA, but not by THAT much ... and at 14-9 (which is good, but this is a guy who has had two 21-8 seasons), I'm not sure why he'd be on this list?
Mick, numbers-wise he is a top 10 pitcher this year in the league, and nobody could have expected that coming off the surgery he had last year. He's never had a year like this, and being in Houston you wouldn't expect it anyway.
IMO, he is a huge surprise, and one of the biggest (if not the biggest) of the entire MLB season.
