I'm hopeful that the Rays meet the Cubs in the World Series. Not because it would pit two legions of suffering fans against each other, but because it would pit two teams who each gave up the opportunity to have the 2008 AL MVP play for their team less than 18 months prior.
That way, whoever the loser is can say, 'We had a chance to have this MVP player on our team and we let him slip away'.

error...22 months, not 18. or less than two years before the 08 Series. Or however one calculates the time since December 7, 2006.
Geoff, it would take something of a miracle in my home states of Ohio and Texas, but how about a Rays/Rangers ALCS and a Reds/Cubs NLCS? The winners meet in the Series for the Hamilton Cup.
Although I voted for this option as well, I am surprised that the majority (easily) is voting "Won't make playoffs".
It is an interesting study this year. With Posada going down for the year as well, the division seems more open than it has in a lot of years. If nothing else, the Rays being competitive keeps Boston and New York closer together.

If they aren't making the playoffs, I wonder who people think ARE making the playoffs. Twins? Detroit? Yankees? Perhaps that should be the next poll...
Chris, that IS the next poll. I just haven't posted it yet!
