I voted Hill.  It wasn't the BABIP disaster of 2010 that motivated my vote though.  Rather, it was my totally subjective belief in his determination.  Hey, it's almost spring...

Dogged determination cuts both ways. Last year Hill seemed determined to swing the heavy lumber instead of shortening his stroke, being patient, and driving the ball into the gaps. He seemed to be the wrong kind of player for his approach (I think he was even using a Troy Glaus-sized bat). I would rather see him hit 280/350/450 than 240/300/500. But that's just me.

Lind is an enigma wrapped around a batting donut inside a pine tar rag. Will he regain his fluid, accurate, explosive swing of 2009, or will we see more of his late, lumbering, sheepish stroke of 2010? I have no idea, but I sure hope he gets back on track, and fast.

Hill hasn't posted a .350 OBP since 2004 in AA.

Interestingly, a piece on Aaron Hill ("Aaron Hill's uphill season") by Rory Paap was just posted on the Hardball Times. I tend to agree with his conclusion:

"If Hill gets back to reacting to pitch location and hitting line drives to all fields, I suspect he’ll once again become a very productive player. He’ll also pull his fair share of balls over the left field fence, as he always has. His experiment to attempt to drive balls over the fence to all fields was a spectacular failure.

"Hill won the Comeback Player of the Year award back in 2009 and I’ll throw it out here he may be one heck of a good bet to do it again in 2011, which would be pretty cool. Something tells me that honor hasn’t gone to the same player in two of three seasons."
