Gotta be Joe McGinnity. What people don't understand, I think, is that the term "Iron Man" was INVENTED to describe Joe McGinnity. In other words, it was McGinnity who gave the term its modern connotation. McG was called the "Iron Man" because he worked in a foundry. The term "Iron Man" became associated with great stamina, because of McGinnity's greatness.
