Most of these guys have some sort of shot. John Buck will fall behind Mauer and Victor Martinez, and a third catcher would have to be Jorge Posada (who has barely caught) or Mike Napoli (who has only caught because of an injury to Jeff Mathis.) A-Gon has been the most valuable offensive shortstop in the AL, and though UZR is down on his defense (which I find unfathomable; he is fantastic) I think he is the Jays most slam dunk choice, as after Jeter others do not inspire. The Jays have 3 top 6 outfielders in terms of hitting, though one now plays for the White Sox - ZING. I would be surprised if both Bautista and Wells made it, though they are now 1-2 in the AL in home runs, but I wouldn't bet against one of them making it, especially if Vernon keeps having two homer nights. Ricky Romero also is deserving; he's been slightly better than Marcum and his numbers are shinier. Neither is doing so well in the record department at 6-3 though.

If the team sent 3 players I think that would have to be considered a success.

Miguel Cabrera is #2 in the AL in home runs.

John Buck: 1.3 WAR (6th in the AL for C)
Alex Gonzalez: 1.5 WAR (tied for 3rd in AL for SS)
Vernon Wells: 2.6 WAR (8th in AL for OF)
Jose Bautista: 1.9 WAR (18th in AL for OF)
Ricky Romero: 2.8 WAR (3rd in AL for SP)
Shaun Marcum: 2.0 WAR (12th in AL for SP)
Kevin Gregg: 0.3 WAR (28th in AL for RP)

I wouldn't be surprised if more than one Jay goes (one of Wells or Bautista will definitely make it if they keep up the HR pace), but Romero deserves it more than anybody on this team. He's had a great season.

Just a hunch, but I think both Romero and Wells will be selected.

Marcum is deserving, but probably won't make the cut. Potential comeback player of the year?

A-Gon, Buck and Bautista have had great seasons, but they aren't your prototypical All-Star players (Gonzalez and Buck have low OBPs and Bautista has a low BA). Gregg has racked up the saves but has been blown out a few times and isn't really a dominant reliever.
