Fletch can do the colour though.
Pretty much any year from '83-'89 would be better for Whitt than '82.
This kind of set-up (choosing a particular year for a player) doesn't help Ernie much as he had 6 or 7 very good years which are interchangable with each other.
Borders '90 may be a better pick than any year for Ernie, but Ernie was by far the better player.

I picked Borders. But I often wonder if Fletch ever mentally said "Hee Haw!" when someone struck out looking the way he does when he is doing colour commentary.
