Game One Star of the Game
Halladay | 96 (38.40%) |
Molina | 65 (26.00%) |
Rios | 79 (31.60%) |
Johnson | 3 (1.20%) |
Other | 7 (2.80%) |
If the HR was one that creeped over the fence, Halladay gets my vote, but the umph in that baby completely changed the game.
Although, if today is harbinger of Rios' season to come, then perhaps his development will play a bigger role in the team's success than Ryan's performance.
Loud, boisterious, and into the game. Paying attention. Cheering for the Blue Jays rather than the Leafs, Argos, or (shudder) Raptors. Well-behaved. Happy to be there. Informed.
This game proved that Toronto fans are not naturally lifeless. Get enough of them together, and give them something to cheer for, and they'll rock the house as well as anybody.

Those are the number of pitches per out for Halladay, and pitches per out for the five other pitchers in the game.
He was on tonight.
It was clear from the moment I saw him waddle out onto the field on Opening Night, Molina is going to be a fan favourite at the Rogers Center.
Throw in a towering HR off the facing of the Upper Deck against none other than Johan Santana (which he hit precisely as I mused aloud that I hoped he didn't hit into a double play, now a ritual even in non-double play situations when Molina's up to bat) and by the end of the game fans in my section were chanting his name every time he came up.
