Which 2007 team is likeliest to continue the current seven-year streak of different World Series winners?
Cleveland | 16 (16.33%) |
Detroit | 4 (4.08%) |
Minnesota | 3 (3.06%) |
New York Mets | 29 (29.59%) |
Oakland | 2 (2.04%) |
Philadelphia | 2 (2.04%) |
Texas | 6 (6.12%) |
Toronto | 34 (34.69%) |
Other (who?) | 2 (2.04%) |
Will the Mets be actively seeking another starter or two this offseason? I guess that question is really, Do they have money left to spend?, since they clearly need pitchers. I haven't seen their name come up much in rumours (although I'm not a big rumour follower), but they, along with the Yankees, Dodgers, etc... could really drive up the price for starters.
I voted Mets, assuming they will find another pitcher or two for next year, and assuming they could afford it. Which seemed more likely to me than the Jays doing the same.
Pedro's uncertain health actually makes the Mets a greater post-season threat.
They have no choice but to plan for the season as if Pedro won't contribute (ie add 1 or 2 of Zito, Schmidt, D-Mat, Pettitte) yet there is a solid chance they may benefit from a healthy, rested Pedro from August on.
The Mets probably have to be favourites on this list because of their excellent lineup and weak competition in the NL. As this year showed, getting to the Series is half the battle.
