Right now Tigers in 5 is leading.   Just looking at statistical probability, and assuming one believes that the teams do each have home field advantage (when playing at their home parks) in this series, it seems to me that it would be more likely that either the Tigers would win in 4 or the Yankees would win in 5.

For example, say the teams are evenly matched, and that the home team is expected to win 55% and the visiting team 45%.  Given that the next 2 games are in Detroit, and the final one in the Bronx,  the probabilities would look like:

Tigers in 4: 30.25%

Tigers in 5: 22.275%

Yankees in 4: 20.25%

Yankees in 5: 27.225%

Now, this can easily be explained away by something like people favouring the Tigers as far as the pitching matchup goes in game 5, or maybe people believe that the Yankees are actually under too much pressure at home and are at a disadvantage if it goes to 5 games.  But, absent some sort of reasoning like that, it seems somewhat irrational to believe that "Tigers in 5" is the most likely of the 4 scenarios.

Anyway, I say Tigers in 4.

the Tigers as far as the pitching matchup goes in game 5

Tonight: Rogers vs. Johnson

Tomorrow: Bonderman vs. Wright

Sunday: Robertson vs. Wang

Tomorrow is cleary advantage Tigers, Sunday clearly in the Yankees favour. Tonight is a close call - I'm optimistic that Randy's back will knock him out early. If the Yankees lose tonight, do they bring back Wang tomorrow and Mussina for Sunday?

FWIW, I voted Yankees in 5.  I figure that they'll probably split the two in Detroit;  the pitching matchup and the home-field advantage should make the Yankees favourites in Game 5.  The Sandman is rested, and that spells trouble.
