I picked Blyleven over Raines. Those two are head and shoulders above the rest of the group (not including Rickey, of course). McGwire and Tramell also deserve to get in, IMO, and if Morris ever wants to get in he should have to buy a ticket. The last thing the Hall needs is another Catfish Hunter (i.e. grossly overrated mustachioed "winner").
I'm with Mike in picking Raines over Blyleven, barely. (And I almost always vote for the pitcher over the hitter.) But both are obvious candidates, I think. I wanted to vote "Trammell," and do believe be belongs, but that would have been voting with the heart, not the "who deserves it?" criterion.
Raines, and I don't think it's close at all.
Well the veterans commitee chose Joe Gordon to be inducted. The best I can summon up for that selection is total apathy.
