Well, it seems the Jays have settled everything on the payroll front...for now with all arbitration eligible players settled.

The top 40 prospects in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system have been announced by Baseball America. However, it is really a Top 37 ranking as three of the players are no longer with the organization.


Spencer Horwitz enjoyed a breakout season in 2021 with Vancouver to place him in the top half of the Baseball America Blue Jays prospect rankings.

So how will our lineup do this year vs last? Lets dig into ZiPS (publicly available) projections to get an idea.

Opening Day will be April 7, the 45th anniversary of the Blue Jays first-ever game.

Well, it is official - no first week of baseball in April - the first 2 series are cancelled now.

This is a big question with Bo & Vlad, and the possibility of trading for Jose Ramirez among others. Lets look at history to get an idea on this.

Things are very quiet with labor issues  hanging over MLB.  So lets start a new area for covering any oddball topics as they are bleeding into the prospects.

The Blue Jays had a lot of players who could have made the back end of the top 30 list. It was hard to pick who should be in the top 30 and who just missed. So here are the 31's, all of whom are worth watching in 2022.

The top 10 features four returnees from 2019's top 10, eight returnees from the top 30 and two players who are new to the system.

The middle ten of our top prospects has a lot of new blood. Drafted players in 2021 and 2020, along with international signings, provide seven of our middle ten.

As mentioned yesterday, the Blue Jays top 30 prospects returns after a hiatus last season. As you would expect there has been a lot of turnover from the 2019 list. Seven prospects graduated. This includes pitchers Nate Pearson, Alek Manoah, Thomas Hatch and Anthony Kay. The hitters who graduated are Santiago Espinal, Alejandro Kirk and Reese McGuire.

Nine prospects are no longer in the organization. Simeon Woods Richardson, Patrick Murphy, Kendall Williams, TJ Zeuch, Yennsy Diaz, Griffin Conine, Riley Adams, Josh Winckowski and Hector Perez. That leaves 14 holdovers, twelve of whom are on this years top 30. The two exceptions are Maximo Castillo and Dasan Brown.

The Batters Box top 30 prospects returns tomorrow after a break in 2020. The 2021 minor league season was a different one from when we last rated propects. It started late, it finished later, the minor leagues were reorganized and the number of affiliates reduced.

Fangraphs today published their top 37 prospects for the Blue Jays. To no ones surprise Gabriel Moreno tops the list, followed by Orelvis Martinez.

This is a good time to note that the Batters Box top 30 is scheduled for publication next week. So even though there is a lockout, there will still be baseball content next week. In the mean time consider the Fangraphs list as a palate cleanser.

The new class is getting closer and closer now. Lets look back at Jays who have gotten votes for it.
