Interim GM Tony LaCava has made his first trade, which is also the first trade of Mark Shapiro's tenure as President. The Jays have acquired Jesse Chavez from the Oakland Athletics. Liam Hendriks, Toronto's favourite Aussie, is headed to Oakland.

Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson is the winner of the 2015 American League Most Valuable Player award.


Josh Donaldson is the second Blue Jay to capture the AL MVP award after George Bell won it in 1987.

Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet says the Blue Jays will be without second baseman Devon Travis for the first part of the 2016 season after undergoing shoulder surgery.


Devon Travis batted .304 with eight home runs and 35 runs batted in over 217 at-bats with Toronto in 2015.

The Blue Jays are willing to hand over $15.8 million to Marco Estrada for 2016 by giving him a qualifying offer.

Multiple sources are reporting that Alex Anthopoulos has turned down the Blue Jays' extension offer. By all reports, this is not about money or term. All the other GM jobs are filled. So this is about power, and he wasn't going to have as much as he felt he needed under Mark Shapiro's new regime.

First Peter Gammons, then John Heyman are reporting that the Jays are signing Russell Martin for Brian McCann money. Whatever the number that is a big pile of cash. The number now being reported is five years for $82M.

The Jays also announced Brook Jacoby as their new hitting coach.

The man who has played more games as a Blue Jay without playing for anyone else will be losing that particular distinction.  Adam Lind is a Milwaukee Brewer.
