In what seems to be a recurring theme, the affiliates had another losing night. Vancouver were the only winners behind Luis Quinones. Troy Miller had AA troubles. Austin Martin hit his first home run. Dunedin had the usual Dunedin game. Buffalo were rained out.
Two extra-inning setbacks were among three one-run losses on a winless Wednesday on the farm.
The Bisons won but that was the only victory on the farm for the Blue Jays affiliates Tuesday.
Vancouver won with a ninth inning walk-off. This was due to nine innings of one run pitching by Paxton Schultz and Hagen Danner. Dunedin's pitching was hit around again by Tampa, but Addison Barger stayed hot. The Bisons and Fisher Cats were rained out.
What do we make of Nick Allgeyer? In his first two starts of the season Allgeyer had a 1.50 ERA with twin six inning starts with just one run allowed in each. That earned Allgeyer a call-up to the big leagues where we know he didn't appear. Back to AAA then and in three games since his return Allgeyer has conceded eleven runs in 10.1 innings. He has gone from major league potential to just hanging on in the AAA rotation. Allgeyer is probably not as good as he was in the first two games, nor as bad as he has been recently. But he needs to find what made him successful at the start of the season.
The same question could be asked of Adam Kloffenstein. In his first three starts, Kloff gave up a total of one run. In his last two starts he was charged with seven runs and six runs. On Saturday he didn't get out of the second inning. Can he, like Allgeyer, fix what ails him?
Allgeyer took the loss for the Bisons on Saturday as did Kloffenstein for the C's. New Hampshire split a doubleheader, Zach Logue had twelve strikeouts in game one. Dunedin had the day off.

Addison Barger was the main story on Friday. He hit for the cycle to help the Jays get some revenge by laying a whupping on the Yankees. Nick Fraze was dominant for the C's as they won via the shutout. The two two affiliates were rained out.

Nate Pearson struggled again for Buffalo who lost both ends of a doubleheader. New Hampshire had a wild game one of their doubleheader, which they won, but lost game two. LJ Talley had four RBI in game one while Troy Miller pitched well in his AA debut in game two. Luis Quinones made his 2021 debut and pitched well for Vancouver. The C's won in a walk-off. Dunedin were again beaten up by Tampa's bats.
Dunedin split a doubleheader and Vancouver lost their second straight. Buffalo's game in Moosic, Pennsylvania was suspended and New Hampshire's game in Somerset was rained out.

The Blue Jays are suffering bullpen woes at the moment, and so are the affiliates. New Hampshire led 2-1 after seven and lost 7-2. Vancouver took a 5-1 lead to the ninth but three walks, a hit batter, a wild pitch and a single brought the game to 5-4 with two runners on. But unlike the Jays, the C's got that final out. Dunedin led 5-1 in the fourth but Clearwater tied it in the eighth and won it in the tenth. Buffalo lost early. After a whitewash yesterday the C's were the only winners on the day.
The Jays sent several of their pitching prospects to the mound yesterday. Things didn't work out as expected and all the affiliates lost. Nick Allgeyer, Adam Kloffenstein and Sem Robberse were hit around while Simeon Woods Richardson did a little better.
Here is your abbreviated long weekend update.

Here is your abbreviated Victoria Day weekend minor league update. New Hampshire bats were hot but Zach Logue didn't need much hotness. Buffalo rallied in the ninth for the win. Three Dunedin pitchers combined on a two hit shutout. Vancouver lost.
LJ Talley has just been in New Hampshire for a few days but he hit two home runs on Thursday, driving in six runs. Samad Taylor had four hits. Thomas Hatch made a rehab assignment start, Nick Frasso, last years fourth round pick, made his first pro start. CJ Can Eyk, last years second round pick, has his best pro start.
