The home squad is coming off one of those soul-crushing defeats - taking a lead into the ninth inning, only to have your closer give up a pair of solo home runs. That's possibly good news for Toronto. Of course, the fact that it was the Yankees abusing the Bostonians definitely wasn't good news.

The Jays are off to Seattle tonight for 3 with a very, very tired bullpen while fighting for their playoff lives.  Seattle is tied with the Jays 1 1/2 back of KC for the last wild card slot.
Drew Hutchison vs Felix Hernandez tonight, J.A. Happ vs Chris Young on Tuesday, and R.A. Dickey, vs Hisashi Iwakuma on Wednesday before the Jays get Thursday off.  All RHP vs the Jays.

The Jays have designated Sergio Santos for assigment. Rob Rassmussen has been recalled. Santos has an ERA of close to eight this season and a WHIP over two. Santos has only four, three up, three down innings this year and only one of them has come after April.

I guess if you don't have money to sign players, the release of a non-performer "sends a message" to the team to win now. This maybe explains why AA was looking at Aaron Sanchez as an option for the major league bullpen, he is a Santos replacement.

The Jays hope some home cooking can get them back on track as they begin a seven-game homestand. They re-acquired Brad Mills off waivers from Oakland.

Brad Mills is back with the Blue Jays. He will be wearing #38, a decrease of 21 after wearing #59 in his first stint.
