Trouble ahead. Trouble behind.
"Well Rodney hadn't done it"
"The Blue Jays had won it"
"With Arencibia swinging all the while"
"Bonifacio's stolen bases made us smile"
"And Kawasaki dancing on the dugout tile"
Been a while since I produced a Data Table, but the subject of working starting pitchers on three days rest came up the other day.
This afternoon the farm went 1-2, with two ugly loses, and a win by New Hampshire. Dunedin did not play, as they had the day off.
I'm fine, Mom! How's Washington?
The Bisons hit five home runs and scored ten runs which masked Ricky Romero giving up six runs in 3.2 innings. New Hampshire lost, Lansing won and Dunedin were double rained out.
Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.
Buffalo won with some strong performances. Jim Negrych, Eugenio Velez and Mauro Gomez played big roles and Anthony Gose hit a two run home run. Dave Bush and Neil Wagner were the pitching stars. New Hampshire fell short, Dunedin were semi-rained out, Lansing had a nice come from behind win as Christian Lopes continued to hit.
Your head will collapse if there's nothing in it.
The affiliates were 1-3 on the night with some nice performances from Dwight Smith, Andy Burns (the new Kevin Pillar), and Kevin Pillar. Buffalo faced their third successive solid pitching prospect in Zach Britton. Yes, Jim Negrych hit him too. Deck McGuire got the win down in AA and Lansing faced off against a rehabbing Johnny Cueto. Dunedin was edged out by the Cubbie affiliate. It was a fairly unspectacular day down on the farm—something you didn’t say too often last year.

Something's wrong in this house today, while the master was riding, the servants decided to play.
Tonight was a night to forget for the pitchers giving up a combined 25 runs over 4 games. Daniel Norris had another terrible outing for Lansing, raising his ERA into the double digits.
It’s getting close to that time of year on
the baseball calendar when reality starts to set in for the majority of teams
that the minor league free agent they signed is going to be pitching 150
innings of 5.00 ERA ball this year, or that 38 year old defensively deficient
first baseman on his eighth big league team is going to hit .240 in the four
hole the rest of the way. Closer to
home, that $12 million dollar pitcher you just traded for and are on the hook
for two more seasons at $19 and $20 million dollars stinks. Needless to say, a distraction from the present
reality focusing of future success would be welcome at this point. Yes, the First Year Player Draft is less than
a month away. Our Blue Jays hold a
fairly high selection this coming June along with two other selections in the
first one hundred picks of the draft and are sure to use those selections on a
number of players who should bolster a farm system that has been somewhat
strafed this past year

Someday I'll fly, someday I'll soar, someday I'll be so damn much more.
"Are they booing the Blue Jays, Smithers?'"
"Uh, no! They're saying Boo-urns. Boo-urns!"
