The NHL should just send their hardware to Dunedin after another great start was turned in by the system's top pitching prospect. That's it for the good news as the other starting performances ranged from putrid to rancid on a 1-3 Tuesday night on the farm.

There were fireworks aplenty in the Indiana night sky on the Memorial Day Monday. The affiliates came away with a split of their two games in the Hoosier State but lost an afternoon tilt in the Granite State to finish up with a 1-2 record. Dunedin had the day off.

The Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays go at it for the first time since Opening Day in Tampa, when the Jays managed to split the first four games of the season.

Both teams look to keep the good times rolling with the Jays on a six game winning streak and the Rays on a four-gamer.

After spending the past few years pitching in Asia, Radames Liz made his 2014 debut for the Blue Jays and was solid in his debut.  The farm was 1-3 on Sunday, with the only win coming in a 1-0 victory for New Hampshire.

New Hampshire lost big and ugly. The pitching was bad, the hitting was bad and the only pitcher with a clean slate was outfielder Matt Newman. The Bisons loss wasn't that bad but there was little good about it.

The two lower teams saved the day, Dunedin swept a doubleheader while Lansing won in extras.

Lansing lost by nine in a game where two hitters were hit in the head, the benches cleared, two Lugnuts were ejected, a hitter pitched and the Lugnuts made seven errors. It was one to remember, and forget. The Bisons won thanks to Brad Glenn and Shawn Hill. New Hampshire lost in extra innings. Dunedin lost despite three hits from Marcus Knecht and ten K's by Taylor Cole.

The Toronto Blue Jays will have a new member of the rotation to start this series against the two-time defending AL West Champion Athletics at the Dome. Say hello to Liam Hendriks, called up from the Bisons, and goodbye to Esmil Antonio, who has been designated for assignment.



Liam Hendriks earned the call to Baseball North after posting a 5-0 record with a 1.48 earned run average, walking just three hitters in 48.2 innings at Triple-A Buffalo. BlueJays.com says Hendriks will wear #34, Dave Stewart's old number. However, first base coach Tim Leiper currently wears #34 so we'll see what happens there. Ooh, the intrigue!

A fantastic start from Kyle Drabek highlights last night’s Minor League activities as the Jays’ affiliates went 3-1.

The affiliates were 2-1 today, with an off day for Buffalo.   Lansing’s offense was on fire, while Dunedin won and New Hampshire lost in close games.  Dalton Pompey, and Daniel Norris continued to perform well for Dunedin, hoping for a promotion to New Hampshire.

Another one-win outing for the affiliates Tuesday night as they posted a 1-3 record. A pair of one-run losses were the lowlights but three starting performances ranging from decent to excellent were the highlights.

The Toronto Blue Jays pay their first visit to Fenway Park in 2014. They'll be joined by lefthander Rob Rasmussen, who has been called up from Buffalo.

Rob Rasmussen posted a 2.65 earned run average and struck out 19 batters in 17 innings with Buffalo this season. According to BlueJays.com, he will wear #59, joining the immortal Carlos Diaz, Mark Dalesandro, Adam Peterson, Curtis Thigpen, Jesse Carlson, Randy Wells and "Strasburg Canada" himself, Brad Mills to wear those digits.

The affiliates came away with just one win in five games Monday and all four losses came with the winning run scored in the opposition's final at-bat. If that's not enough, a Jays pitching prospect has announced through his Twitter account that he will be undergoing Tommy John surgery. Welcome back to the work week! :(

The affiliates were 3-1, with the only loss coming from New Hampshire who lost in a 14 inning game. Taylor Cole had a strong start for Dunedin, with offensive help from Markus Knecht and Dwight Smith Jr.  Lansing won a close game 4-3, despite being outhit 14-5, and Buffalo beat up on the Phillies AAA affiliate Lehigh Valley winning 7-1.

Alex Anthopoulos was in Buffalo Saturday to see Liam Hendricks start. Hendricks pitched well and is now under consideration for the fifth starter spot. In addition to Hendricks, Kendall Graveman and Shane Dawson pitched very well, Matt Boyd and Alberto Tirado were OK. All of Graveman's outs on balls in play were recorded on ground balls.

The top two clubs lost, the lower two won. Ryan Schimpf hit two home runs. KC Hobson had two doubles, LB Dantzler drove in three.
