Sean Nolin pitched 6.2 shutout innings for the Bisons to get his first AAA win. New Hampshire split a doubleheader. Aaron Sanchez gave up six runs in the third inning and was unable to complete the inning. Lansing were almost no-hit for the fourth time. Mitch Nay had three hits in Bluefield's win. The GCL Jays won behind innings from Matt Smoral.

Vancouver lost another game in the ninth inning. They started the weekend in the playoff hunt but two ninth inning loses have dented their chances. New Hampshire also had a shot at the playoffs but they have gone 1-2 over the last 2 days. Meanwhile depleted Buffalo are 2-0.

Miguel Castro had an excellent start for the GCL Jays, he pitched seven shutout inning and the Jays held on for a 1-0 win. Brad Glenn had two home runs for Buffalo as they kept their playoff hopes alive. New Hampshire lost a close game to hurt their playoff chances. Vancouver had a lead in the ninth but lost dealing a blow to their playoff chances. Bluefield lost a meaningless game, Chase DeJong had nine strikeouts in four innings. Lansing lost in extra innings, Dunedin lost in regulation.

Weekend in Texas. Can the Jays win a series against the lowly Astros? It should be good for Pillar, Gose, Sierra and Goins to face some competition closer to what they are used to.

Chien Ming Wang has been recalled and will start tomorrow. Aaron Loup has been placed on paternity leave. Is his mother having another child? Just kidding, he has a baby face so it doesn't fit my mental image of him that he is about to become a father.

Ricky Romero was given the start last-minute for Buffalo. New Hampshire had a great game on both sides of the ball today.  Starter Marcus Stroman was fantastic, as his offense managed to put 12 runs on the board lead by Ryan Schimpf and his two homeruns.  Dunedin was rained out again for the third consecutive day.  Lansing, Vancouver, and Bluefield all lost, while the GCL and DSL Jays each won by a run.

Richard Urena who was a Jays International Free Agent signing last year, made his debut in America after spending the first few months in the DSL.  Dunedin had another game rained out today, when they were supposed to play a double header.  New Hampshire had an early game with an excellent start from Marcus Walden.  Lansing was stuck in a pitchers duel vs Great Lakes.  Vancouver's pitching gave up a bunch of runs early versus Everett.

We have had some discussion in a couple of threads yesterday and this morning around John Farrell's comments from yesterday.  The Jays lost last night in a game where Jose Reyes and Rajai Davis could be accused of selfish behaviour.  And now Shi Davidi weighs in.  This debate is partly about tools and development but it is a lot about what is wrong with the Jays, why can they not be in contention in September?  We will likely see a lot of discussion today around the topic "what is wrong with the Jays organization?".  I thought we could do with a separate thread on this.

Maicer Izturis has abadly swollen ankle, he could be headed to the DL unless it gets a lot better by tomorrow.  This season is starting to resemble last year.  The DL for the Jays includes Bautista, Rasmus, Melky, Johnson, Morrow and a bunch of relievers.  One third of the lineup (45% if Izturis goes on it) and 40% of the rotation are on the DL, the team isn't playing well, and the losses are beginning to mount up. 

Joe Carter was in Vancouver and in a fitting tribute, the Canadians won it in walk-off fashion Tuesday night as they continue their playoff push. That was part of a 4-3 day for the affiliates. Dunedin was rained out.

The affiliates were 4-3 Monday with all the wins coming at the lower levels.

On Sunday the affiliates were 2-4.  Vancouver had a night to forget. Lansing won in extra innings.   Sean Nolin made his debut for Buffalo.  New Hampshire won in the bottom of the 9th inning, and Clinton Hollon made his debut for Bluefield.

There were lots of stand-out performances on the farm on Saturday.

Franking Barreto hit a two run, walk off single for Bluefield. That was one of his two hits.

Rolando Segovia hit a walk off 3 run home run for the GCL Jays.

Ricky Romero pitched well, Moises Sierra hit a 3 run home run in the Bisons win.

Andy Burns and Kenny Wilson each had three hits and Marcus Stroman got the win for New Hampshire.

Vancouver won behind a strong start for Jeremy Gabryszwski.

Dunedin and Lansing lost. Matt Boyd pitched well in his Dunedin debut. Emilio Guerrero had two hits to add to his 6 from Friday.

Emilio Bonifacio was traded, Emilio Guerrero goes 6-6 with a grand slam. Friday was offense night on the farm with lots of hits and runs, the fewest runs scored in a game was 8. Thanks, in part to Guerrero Lansing scored 14 runs and won. Guerrero is 20 years old, turning 21 next week, and has been playing well in the Midwest League. He has been really hot over the last ten games.

Buffalo won, led by Mike McCoy and Chien-Ming Wang. New Hampshire had to play 15 innings but they won. Bluefield swept a doubleheader, Franklin Barreto had three hits, Mitch Nay, Matt Dean and DJ Davis homered.

Dunedin, Vancouver and the GCL Jays lost.

The local nine are off to Tampa Bay, and does everyone else remember those heady days in June when the Jays had drawn even with Tampa Bay and were just five games off the division lead? Also known as "The Kawasaki Era?" Or maybe you blinked and missed it.
