Finally, a break from hockey! The American League Championship Series starts up tonight with the Kansas City Royals visiting the Baltimore Orioles. The National League Championship Series begins tomorrow with the San Francisco Giants at the St. Louis Cardinals.
Baseball is a funny game!
R.A. Dickey and
Miguel Gonzalez had given up a combined 50 home runs (25 apiece) heading into their final starts of the season. Instead of a home run derby and offensive fireworks, only one run was scored.
Dalton Pompey is greeted by first base coach
Tim Leiper after a single to lead off the second inning. Pompey was later picked off at first.
The St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants are one win away from joining baseball's final four as they host Game 4 of their respective National League Division Series.
Four games today! More tomorrow! And the next day!
With the amazing year we've seen in the Jays minors it got me to thinking about prospects and how the Jays ones have done and what is the best year we've ever seen. Could we currently have the strongest farm in Jays history? Doubtful, but lets do a check.
A few months ago I discussed why we had shut off new member registrations. To recap, the volume of spam member requests were creating a logistical nightmare and were in turn slowing the site. we were receiving hundreds of spam member requests every day and in our system they had to be manually declined one by one.
I am happy to announce that we will reopen registration later today or tomorrow and leave it open until Monday evening. So if you have been waiting to register now is your chance.
In tha AL Wild Card, it was Jason Frasor, Winning Pitcher. Tonight, Travis Snider gets his moment on a Big Stage,
A second straight month of co-winners! Congratulations go out to

Franklin Barreto and
Rowdy Tellez earned 14 points
apiece to share the Hitter of the Month hardware with two first-star selections as well as a second and a third. The 3 Stars voting by the Batter's Box Minor League Crew is done on a 5-3-1 points system.
The games go on. It's the AL Wild Card game tonight.
The destination was the same as ever. The route was certainly different.
I've been working on the great Blue Jays Report Card (coming to a Batter's Box near you on Monday), and when it came to discussing the manager I thought I'd try to identify a few things the man actually does when it comes to running his team.
I got carried away. So I thought I'd best spin it off into a separate piece.

it was 25 seasons ago when the Jays and O's squared off at the Dome to decide the American League East. Today, the AL East has already been decided as the O's will use the final three games to tune up for the playoffs after winning the division. The Jays are hoping to finish the season with a winning record.
Now that everyone has had a chance to recover from the minor league season, the news flow is starting again. This week the Jays announced their award winners and Baseball America have started publishing their League their top 20's.
Even though most of us have never met face to face we are linked in our enjoyment of the Blue Jays and our love of baseball. We share this bond so when something bad happens to one of us we can empathize that someone, whose virtual company we enjoy, is suffering.
Our own John Northey has recently lost his wife due to complications from childbirth. John now has four young children, including a newborn, to look after.
