The affiliates knew there was no way they could out shine the "blockbuster" trade the Jays organization made earlier in the day so the players simply mailed it in as the clubs managed just one win.
The GCL Jays registered the only win of the day. Your intrepid correspondent was on hand in Binghamton, New York, to see JP Arencibia walk twice. There was a charge to the early showers in the Syracuse game, the umpire must have developed a sore thumb from the ejections.

Good pitching beats good hitting and that was a good thing for the affiliates. The hurlers had only seven runs to work with in a 2-and-1 night on the farm. Meantime, a member of the Auburn Doubledays came away with some hardware during the NY Penn League All-Star festivities.
Ok, it was only 2-0, but it's still a perfect night on the farm.
The affiliates went just 2-4 on Sunday, blowing a bunch of late leads. But, in more important events, Brett Cecil dominated for the first time in Triple-A.
It was an even night on the farm, as victories in Dunedin, Lansing and the Gulf Coast League offset losses in the high minors and NY-Penn League. The Lugnuts had a good night at the plate in Fort Wayne and Syracuse managed a good number of hits, even if they came up short in the end. There was a lot of 5 inning starts amongst the starters with few standout performances.
Dunedin won both ends of a doubleheader allowing just one run between both games. The GCL Jays supplied the only other win with two come from behind rallies.

Even though the batters barely showed up, Lansing managed the only win on the night thanks to some great pitching from a trio of left-handers. All the other affiliates disappointed.
Three wins and four losses. Brad Mills delivered another excellent start as New Hampshire won. Syracuse, Dunedin and Lansing lost. Auburn won and the GCL Jays split a pair as Jon Talley hit a pair of home runs in the win.
The Jays number one hitting prospect connected for his first home run in AAA but their top pitching prospect didn't fare nearly as well in fantastic Frontier Field. New Hampshire split a doubleheader, the GCL Jays got swept in theirs, Dunedin won and everyone else lost in an ugly 2-and-6 night for the affiliates.
A quiet night in the minors as Syracuse and NH had the day off. The remaining 4 affiliates split their 4 games.

I logged on this morning to check out the Minor League Update. When it wasn't there I realized it was because Sunday's my day to report. Whoops.
In any event, one of two things happened to each affiliate yesterday: They either didn't play or they scored five runs and won. If the anticipation of knowing who did what is killing you, just click 'more'.
A rainout in the Gulf Coast League meant that five affiliates were in action and four of those games were decided in the last inning. If I tell you that Auburn was the team not involved in one of those aforementioned games and that the affiliates went 3-1 in those games, could you guess which team took the loss? I hope you’d at least be able to narrow it down to two pretty quickly. Lansing won in extras behind a couple of 4-hit performances, Travis Snider went 2-4 in Triple-A and David Cooper hit his first homer in High-A. Rehabbing big leaguers did not do so well, as Shannon Stewart and V-Dub both were hitless and Jeremy Accardo gave up a pair of runs.
A big night on the farm as the affiliates went 4-2. More importantly, some impressive prospects put up some impressive performances.
First round selection David Cooper continued his assault on minor league pitchers with a 2-for-5 night with two RBI in his first game in Dunedin on Thursday night. Dunedin represents Cooper's third minor league stop already this year despite having just signed his first pro contract in June. Travis Snider, playing left field, also had a successful AAA debut, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. The Baby Jays managed to go 3-3 despite being outscored, in total, 38-19. The MLU is a joint effort today.
