The affiliates won three out of four on Monday with all three wins happening in the U.S. New Hampshire had the night off.
Now remember the story, we're newly weds hitching a ride to Earth Capital...
In perhaps a foreshadowing of their major league futures, Jeff Hoffman and Alberto Tirado combined on a three hit shutout against the Yankees. Dunedin had 19 hits with lots of hitters having big days. Speaking of big days Ryan McBroom had a five hit day for Lansing but the Lugnuts lost in extra innings. Richard Urena stayed hot with three hits. New Hampshire took advantage of bad play by New Britain to win. Joel Pineiro pitched well. Buffalo were rained out.

Some strong pitching performances overshadowed a lacklustre night for the affiliates hitters. A few players who have been in the MLB had nights to show that they may be back before long. There were several close games, though only one that seemed particularly exciting. Here is your minor league update.
The Toronto Blue Jays visit
Paul Molitor and the Minnesota Twins to wrap up the month of May. The 1993 World Series MVP has skippered the Twins to a first-place tie with the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central with identical 28-18 records, 1-1/2 games ahead of Detroit. The Twins are coming off a sweep of the Boston Red Sox at Target Field and have won five in a row after taking the last two games of their series against the Chicago White Sox in the Windy City.
The affiliates were 2-1. Shane Dawson went eight in Lansing, Matt Boyd went seven in New Hampshire, and Jairo Labourt went five in Dunedin. Anthony Alford scored two runs and walked. K.C. Hobson provided the heroics (in part) in New Hampshire.

The top three teams all lost on Tuesday and Lansing were behind 3-2 headed to the ninth inning. The Lugnuts loaded the bases for Danny Jansen who cleared them. Jesus Tinoco did not get the win but he held Bowling Green hitless for five innings. Daniel Norris was decent but not great, he took the loss for Buffalo and had just one three up, three down inning. New Hampshire played a slugfest, scored ten runs, and lost. The Jays lost a one run game, the Dunedin Jays that is.

Good thing the parent club pulled one out in walk-off fashion. The affiliates went 0-4 as they committed 11 errors between them, leading to the opposition reaching double digits in the run column twice.
The affiliates were just 1-for-3 on Memorial Day Monday, going 0-2 against Pirate-affiliated clubs. Dunedin had the day off.
The Blue Jays look to salvage a 3-4 homestand as they host the White Sox for three games in a battle of cellar dwellars. This series marks the return of Melky Cabrera to Toronto who defected to the Pale Hose as a free-agent during the off-season.
There were some ugly lines on Sunday. Three Bison pitchers combined to turn a 4-0 lead into an 8-4 deficit in the eighth inning. Andy Burns made an error in the inning that helped negate his first AAA home run. That inning also lost the win for Felix Doubront who pitched six strong innings. The Fisher Cats made four errors and allowed five unearned runs. Dunedin gave up seven runs, three of them unearned and Lansing pitchers gave up 20 hits. On the bright side Rowdy Tellez hit a home run and Anthony Alford reached base three times, Derrick Loveless had three hits.
There were lots of good performances on the farm on Saturday. On the rubber, Miguel Castro, Matt Boyd and Shane Dawson pitched well. For the hitters, Matt Hague, Dwight Smith and Richard Urena each had three hits.

After a sweep on Thursday the affiliates registered just one win on Friday. In his first game for the Jays, Ronald Torreyes delivered a tie breaking three run double that won the game for New Hampshire. Daniel Norris had a wild start for the Bisons, Dunedin's bats were dormant and Lansing almost had a big comeback.

The Seattle Mariners make their only visit to Toronto for a three-game weekend series. The Mariners lost two of three in Baltimore and are 18-22 on the season, eight games back of the Houston Astros in the AL West. The Blue Jays salvaged a split of their four-game set with the Los Angeles Angels to start off their 10 game homestand. The Jays are 19-24, 4-1/2 games behind the Yankees in the AL East.
Lansing scored 17 runs as the Baby Jays swept the night’s games. Two weeks running now that the affiliates have swept on the night I write the MLU. You’re welcome.
