Five wins in six games, only New Hampshire had a loss. Most of the wins were democratic. Every Buffalo hitter had a hit. Eight Lansing hitters reached. The bottom third of Vancouver's order scored five of their six runs. Three pitchers eached pitched three innings for the Canadians. Bluefield also used three pitchers for multiple innings. On the prospect side, Vlad Jr went deep again. Richard Urena had a a nice day as did Andy Burns. Rowdy Tellez had two hits. Anthony Alford had a big double. On the other hand, Conner Greene and Jon Harris were roughed up a bit.

Having spent the day looking in vain for some wag to say "You Brexit, you bought it!" let's turn our attention to the baseball. The Jays are in Chicago this weekend, where everything happens an hour later than it should.

Justin Maese made his first start in Vancouver Wednesday.

We're sneaking up on the halfway point of the 2016 season and of course well aware of what's happening with the local squadron and their rivals. But what about the rest of the league?

Buffalo scored seven runs in the sixth inning to turn a close game into an easy win. The bats were pounding and Chris Leroux had a good start. New Hampshire lost to an eighth inning home run. Dunedin had an easy win to close out their first half of the season. Jonathan Davis drove in a couple of runs and ends the first half as the best hitter in Dunedin. Lansing are on their all-star break. Vancouver lost behind a shaky Justin Maese. Two former Jays pitched against the affiliates on Wednesday, Myles Jaye and Jake Brentz.

The Canadians evened up their series with Everett with their first home victory of 2016.


C's starter Luis Sanchez set the tone early with a 1-2-3 inning in the first.

The North American affiliates were 4-0 and the Dominican Jays were winning before the rains came. The Lansing Lugnuts, saved for five of them, had the night off. The fab five all put in a good showing at the Midwest League All-Star Game.

I promise you all - if they lose tonight, I refuse to start another series thread until they're at least four games over .500, and thus have sufficient margin to Deal With my Participation.

The Vancouver Canadians home opener did not quite go as planned Monday night.


The 2016 Canadians roster is introduced to the sell-out crowd at Nat Bailey Stadium.

The affiliates won three and lost two on Monday. A walk-off win was the highlight, a blowout loss in a home opener was the lowlight.

Three of the four games went to extra innings with the affiliates going 2-1 in the extra inning games. Jio Mier hit a home run to give Buffalo the win. Ryan Hissey delivered the walk-off hit for Lansing. New Hampshire lost to a walk-off hit. Vancouver had an easy win while Dunedin had their all-star break.

The Blue Jays visit the Broad Street Bullies 2.0 in Baltimore for a weekend set.


The Blue Jays will have to deal with Manny 'Pacquiao' Machado this weekend as the appeal hearing for his four-game suspension is scheduled for Tuesday.

Sean Reid-Foley was awesome in Dunedin.
