The affiliates were 3-5 on the night. Casey Lawrence was very good and Anthony Alford is returning to his all-action play.

The Blue Jays open up their Canada Day weekend series against the AL Central Division leaders.

Buffalo and Lansing had good come from behind wins. Buffalo came from behind twice in the last two innings. Melky Mesa had the game winning hit but Darrell Ceciliani had the game tying home run. Conor Panas also hit a game tying home run before Lansing went ahead.

New Hampshire, Dunedin and Bluefield had big wins. Dwight Smith hit home runs in back to back innings, including a grand slam. In Dunedin's game Emilio Guerrero had a two run sac fly, Anthony Alford scored from second.

Vancouver and the GCL Jays lost badly. But many prospects had good days, read the whole thing!

Another splitsville day on the farm as the affiliates went 4-4.

All eight affiliates drew first blood in their games but the best they could do was split them down the middle. A couple of bullpen meltdowns in the lower levels did not help.

Five wins in six games, only New Hampshire had a loss. Most of the wins were democratic. Every Buffalo hitter had a hit. Eight Lansing hitters reached. The bottom third of Vancouver's order scored five of their six runs. Three pitchers eached pitched three innings for the Canadians. Bluefield also used three pitchers for multiple innings. On the prospect side, Vlad Jr went deep again. Richard Urena had a a nice day as did Andy Burns. Rowdy Tellez had two hits. Anthony Alford had a big double. On the other hand, Conner Greene and Jon Harris were roughed up a bit.

Having spent the day looking in vain for some wag to say "You Brexit, you bought it!" let's turn our attention to the baseball. The Jays are in Chicago this weekend, where everything happens an hour later than it should.

From Sam, via Gerry: Almost a clean sweep on the farm last night. Sean Reid-Foley continues to be lights out in High-A ball and Ryan Borucki had one of the better starts of his career.

The C's came up short in the rubber match of their series against Everett on a wet Wednesday evening.



Justin Maese made his first start in Vancouver Wednesday.

We're sneaking up on the halfway point of the 2016 season and of course well aware of what's happening with the local squadron and their rivals. But what about the rest of the league?

Buffalo scored seven runs in the sixth inning to turn a close game into an easy win. The bats were pounding and Chris Leroux had a good start. New Hampshire lost to an eighth inning home run. Dunedin had an easy win to close out their first half of the season. Jonathan Davis drove in a couple of runs and ends the first half as the best hitter in Dunedin. Lansing are on their all-star break. Vancouver lost behind a shaky Justin Maese. Two former Jays pitched against the affiliates on Wednesday, Myles Jaye and Jake Brentz.

The Canadians evened up their series with Everett with their first home victory of 2016.


C's starter Luis Sanchez set the tone early with a 1-2-3 inning in the first.

The North American affiliates were 4-0 and the Dominican Jays were winning before the rains came. The Lansing Lugnuts, saved for five of them, had the night off. The fab five all put in a good showing at the Midwest League All-Star Game.
