It was a great day for the affiliates. One team won it all, another advanced to the championship series, and another took a 1-0 lead in the divisional series. There were no losers in Jaysville on Sunday.

It was a night of dominant pitching, timely groundballs and a controversial finish that saw one affiliate wrap up their series, another take the series lead and one affiliate set up a deciding game this afternoon. I won’t give up which affiliate was involved in which game, until after the jump, but my only clue is that Drew Hutchison took the mound last night.

Three affiliates in playoff action. One took the lead, one fell behind, and one will pack up the lockers.

Two games were rained out, while one affiliate won their rubber match in a nailbiter and another was forced into a decisive game 3.

The Dunedin Blue Jays and the Vancouver Canadians had a much better night than the parent club as they picked up their first playoff victories Tuesday.

The minor league season wrapped up for a few teams on Monday night, though the incredible number of affiliates in the playoffs means the MLUs will continue for at least a few more days.

The Bluefield Blue Jays (Appalachian League) players saw their 2011 season come to an end after losing 4-1 to Johnson City on Sunday.

The Bluefield Blue Jays lost the opening game of the Appalachian League Championship by a run. Despite losing to the Boise Hawks, the Vancouver Canadians are headed to the playoffs. Meanwhile, Nestor Molina continued to look impressive as the New Hampshire bats had a good evening in Maine. And, Chris Woodward will get another taste of the majors, as the first of the September promotions has been made. His absence allowed Jayson Nix to lead the offensive attack in Nevada with Adeiny Hechavarria trailing not far behind.

The only farm club to lose Friday, New Hampshire, managed to clinch at least a playoff bid in the Eastern Division of the Eastern league when close contenders all lost their contests.

A playoff series will go to the wire while a Lansing starter dazzled.

It was a really uneventful life as far as anyone doing anything particularly interesting happening, but victory was secured in the two most important games, with one team extending their division lead and another winning it's first playoff game.

The highlights were wins over Yankees and Padres affiliates.  The lowlights were a doubleheader sweep and an affiliate barely keeping the opposition under 20 runs.  It was a 2-4 night on the farm. 

Bluefield clinched the division title yesterday and today is the last day of their regular season with the playoffs starting tomorrow.  Elsewhere, New Hampshire won big to keep them ahead in their division chase.  Dunedin lost and their division lead is down to 1.5 games.  Lansing had a nice come from behind win and Las Vegas and Kyle Drabek had a bad day.

The bats were alive on Sunday as the affiliates lost just one game. Darin Mastroianni and Jon Talley led the attack for their respective teams.

A slow day on the farm, as the Jays' affiliates go 2-5 despite some nice pitching performances.
