Make up games in Buffalo, Dunedin win a close one, New Hampshire gets shut out, Vancouver heads down the I5.



Vancouver Canadians

The Canadians played their secong game of a six game set against the Everett Aquasox at Funko Field on Wednesday night.

Jackson Wentworth tossed five innings in this one, allowing a home run as well as three hits a walk and six strikeouts.

Sean Keys had a hit and two RBI’s while Victor Arias had one run and one hit against two strikeouts. It was Arias’ single that helped Vancouver tie the game at two in the eight scoring Eddie Micheletti. Keys’ double then scored Nick Goodwin to allow Vancouver to take the lead at 3-2.

Bo Bonds tossed two shutout innings to secure the win for Vancouver.

The Canadians and Aquasox are back at it today with game time at 3:05 PM ET. Juaron Watts-Brown starts for the C’s.

Buffalo Bisons

The Bisons and Rochester Red Wings played a doubleheader Wednesday with the second game being a makeup from March 30.

The Bisons won both games by scores of 6-3 and 3-2.

In Game One, the Bisons Michael Turconi broke the drought for Buffao in the fourth when his single scored Damiano Palmegiani and Ali Sanchez.

Davis Schneider, back in Buffalo after being reassigned by the Blue Jays last week, singled home DaultonVarsho in the fifth to tie the game at three and then scored the go ahead run when Rainer Nunez singled him home.

Buffalo would get two more runs in the sixth inning to take the 6-3 lead in game one and then shut the door on Rochester in the seventh.

Game Two

Rochester scored two runs in their half of the second in this one but is was the Bisons whose two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth would be the difference.

Rainer Nunez’s double in the fourth got the Bisons on the board as it scored Riley Tirotta and then a Michael Stefanic hit scored Steward Berroa in the fifth to give Buffalo a 3-2 lead.

Buffalo and Rochester play today at 6:05pm ET.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Ryan Clifford’s home run for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies gave his squad a 2-0 lead in the first and they would score another in the third to win Wednesday’s game 3-0.

The Fisher Cats couldn’t muster any significant offence despite getting six hits as they left 10 on base and were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

New Hampshire and Binghamton have a double header today with Game One starting at 12:00pm ET.

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Blue Jays used a four run eight inning to defeat the Tampa Tarpons 6-5 on Wednesday night.

Dunedin had an early 2-0 lead to start the game but it was Tampa that had a 4-2 lead heading into the top of the eight.

A Brock Tibbitts home run and Yhoangel Aponte’s double that scored Edward Duran, Manuel Beltre, and Sam Shaw made it 6-4 Dunedin.

A Parks Harber triple and Tyler Wilson’s ground out allowed Tampa to score another run in the bottom of the eight but Dunedin limited the Tarpons to just the one run and were able to get the win with a scoreless ninth.

Dunedin and Tampa are back at it today with game time at 6:30 PM ET.

Sam Shaw is showing some pretty outlier characteristics : he had another couple walks yesterday to boost his season BB rate to 36% - an result which reflects his extreme patience and selectivity, and the fact he hasn't seen many strikes. He's shown decent contact ability so he hasn't struck out too much as yet.

Unusual is on the whole a good thing, but his ability to capitalize on the wildness of opposing pitchers is going to diminish as he moves up. Cavan Biggio shows the great plate discipline only gets you so far.

Physically speaking, Shaw reminds me of Davis Schneider... not overly tall, not overly athletic. I can see why they moved away from using him in CF. He's kinda of a tweener unless he develops more power.
