Vancouver Canadians

The Canadians welcomed the Eugene Emeralds to Nat Bailey Stadium for a six game series this week, the C’s first home stand of the year.

Grant Rogers threw five strong innings in this one, helping pace Vancouver to a 5-2 win. His stat line was five innings pitched, one run, zero earned, a walk and six strikeouts.

Aaron Parker’s first High-A home run landed in the gravel parking lot behind the left field wall to tie the game at 1-1 in the home side’s half of the second.

Vancouver took a 4-1 lead in the fifth thanks to a groundout, two walks and error. Brennan Orf followed those miscues with an RBI single and then Aaron Parker added to his RBI total with a groundout.

Irv Carter and then Bo Bonds combined to allow only one more Emeralds run and Bonds perfect ninth secured the win for Vancouver.

The Canadians and Emeralds are back at it tonight with game time at 10:05 PM ET.

Buffalo Bisons

The Bisons and Syracuse Mets game Wednesday was cancelled due to weather. The game will be made up on Good Friday, April 18th with a doubleheader.

The Bisons and Mets will also play today at 6:35 PM ET.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The Iowa Meat Truck used some pinch hit magic to win the game for The Fisher Cats as he replaced Josh Rivera and blasted a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Harrisburg had tied the game at 9-9 with four runs in the bottom of the eigth thanks in part to a Jeremy De La Rosa double that scored Nick Schnell and C.J. Stubbs.

De La Rosa then scored along with Joe Naranjo when Daylen Lile cracked a double to right field.

New Hampshire couldn’t get anything going in their half of the 8th setting the stage for a scoreless ninth for The Senators before Payton Williams worked his magic.

The Fisher Cats and Senators are back at it again today. Game time is 6:00pm ET.

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Blue Jays continued to rack up runs and lopsided wins against opponents with the Lakeland Tigers being the victim this time.

Three runs in the third, seven in the fourth, and 6 in the bottom half of the 5th made it 16-0 for Dunedin before Lakeland got a single run in the sixth and seventh innings. Dunedin added two more in the eigth.

The final score in this game was 18-2 Dunedin.

Dunedin and Lakeland are back at it today with game time at 11:00 AM ET.

Yeuni Munoz hit his 3rd homer for Dunedin and now has seen 6 of his 9 hits go for extra bases. He has swing and miss tendencies but also has 6 walks.

He may be a developing power prospect to monitor... he's had some freak injuries over the past 2-3 years so his development has been slowed by that. Still just 21 for those concerned about appropriate age.

I was looking at Munoz yesterday, he is 100th percentile in Average EV and Max EV right now. 87th% barrel. The downside: 6th% whiff, 14th% Zone contact, 18th% outside zone swing. Still, nice to see raw power.

Chirinos is in a similar boat. His xwOBA is 50 points higher than his wOBA so the numbers on the surface haven't been there, but 80th% or higher in barrel, hard-hit, max EV, and walk rate. He is hitting the ball the opposite field a lot too.

Chirinos is interesting but he's super unathletic and is in no way going to stick at 3B. He's a 1B only unless he changes his conditioning.

Where do you see the statcast ranks for the minors?

I started subscribing to Thomas Nestico's patreon (@tjstats). He has a ton of really nice apps, one is a statcast summary that generates the percentile rankings.

Wentworth had 4 scoreless innings with 7 Ks but ran into trouble in the 5th. 16 swings and misses, though.
