As an expat in California, it's sad it's had to come to this.. but I agree it's the right move.

I think we as Canadians should be mindful when it comes to boo-ing of the US anthem as a way of expressing displeasure with Mr. Trump. We have to remember that the majority of the baseball players are Americans. The imagery that comes from the disrespect of the US anthem, will come up as another reason for why free agents will not want to come to the Blue Jays. Bottom line is, be respectful of the anthems, and find other ways to express displeasure.

i got that one one post when i was trying to cut and paste something in and post it.

eventually i did a more precise cut and paste and it let me post.

As for booing the anthem i am more than all for it.

Their newly elected present, who enjoys majority support, declared war on us and wants to annex us.

That is obviously far, far ruder than booing their anthem, which is the least we can do tbh. The last thing we should be doing is honouring the anthem of a country that is trying to destroy ours.

As for the players, most all the athletes are strongly maga anyways.

If they're upset about the anthem being booed, they can only be upset at their duly elected selves.

If the tariffs were going to cost me my job/business or loss in standard of living, I wouldn't gave a darn whether my booing the US national anthem would result in free agents not wanting to come to Toronto. In fact, I wouldn't give a damn if the franchise moved down south. Booing a national anthem is disrespectful but sometimes you have to do what you need to do.

I find it terrifying how powerful politicians, the elites and the press are at manufacturing consensus.

A couple of dumb tweets and soundbytes from POTUS and everyone north of 49 is all whipped into a faux patriotic frenzy.

I hadn't grocery shopped in a while but noticed today that there are new maple leaf placards in the meat aisle claiming which cuts are more homegrown than others.

It makes one think less of the brethren surrounding you when they can be activated to have new opinions with a call to action that isn't organic in the least.

Quite the opposite - i've been calling out the media and politicians for being traitors in the face of a direct attack on our country.

I agree with Ugly. Nothing to do with politicians. You can't continually threaten to annex us, belittle us, call our PM a Governer, etc...and not piss off a lot of Canadians. We are understanding what the rest of the world (except Russia) is. The US is not our friend and we can't trust them.

The Anthems are played so that people can show their patriotic feelings, so booing seems in order. I have no issues on mobile.
