NOTES
Buffalo put up three runs in the third and two more in the fourth and then hung on for a one run win. In the third inning Alan Roden singled in two runs and Josh Kasevich the third. Stewy Berroa launched a two run home run in the fourth. Roden, Kasevich, Berroa and Will Robertson had two hits each.
James Kaprelian started and went five innings. Hagen Danner came on in the ninth trying to preserve a one run lead. Scott Kingery did double off him with one out but Danner did get the save. Eric Pardinho and Braydon Fisher pitched shutout innings.
Last season at this time it was thought that the Blue Jays had good depth in the minors for the bullpen with Connor Cooke, TJ Brock, Hayden Juenger and Mason Fluharty. None of them saw major league time this season. Now we are saying that Danner, Fisher and Pardinho are good bullpen depth for 2025. Are they? Between the 2024 prospective arms and now the 2025 prospective arms you would think the Jays could find a couple of arms to either be in the pen or to be on the Toronto Buffalo express. Also, if they did expect to use any of these pitchers in the majors next season you would think they would give them some exposure to major league hitters, just as the hitters are doing.
Michael Dominguez started for New Hampshire and Portland had four hits off him in four innings. Unfortunately three of the four hits went over the fence leading to five runs. Adrian Hernandez also was scored on twice.
Six hits all singles for the Fisher Cats. The game was shortened to seven innings by rain.
Grant Rogers started for Vancouver. He had some trouble in the first inning, the first three hitters singled. But Rogers escaped without conceding a run and was excellent from there. He ended up going six innings, just allowing two more hits for five total. He had no walks and eight strikeouts. At this stage the C's had built a 3-0 lead. Jevon Ward doubled to start the C's first inning and Jackson Hornung singled him in. In the fifth Marcus De La Rosa doubled, Jevon Ward reached on an error. Hornung hit a sac fly and Jay Harry doubled to make it 3-0.
Irv Carter came on for the seventh Carter faced five hitters and all had a hit and five runs scored with two home runs. It was still 5-3 headed to the bottom of the ninth. Alex Stone singled, Bryce Arnold doubled and De La Rosa was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ward hit a sac fly with all runners moving up on an error by the catcher. Peyton Williams then singled in two runs for the walk off win.
Hornung and Arnold had two hits each. Hornung and Williams had two RBI each. Interestingly there were no walks in the game for either team.
Gilberto Batista started for Dunedin and shutout the Yankees through four innings. He came back out for the fifth and gave up a two run home run. But it was a good start. Eminen Flores pitched the seventh and eighth protecting a one run lead. But the lead off hitter in the ninth homered to start the inning.
The Jays scored three runs in the second inning. Braden Barry tripled with the bases loaded to make it a 3-0 game. In the fourth Yhoangel Aponte walked and Braden Barry was hit by a pitch. With runners on first and third the Jays executed a double steal to make it 4-0. The Yankees scored three in the fifth and the run in the ninth to go to extra innings. In the tenth Carter Cunningham singled to score the runner and that was the winning run. Flores pitched the ninth, his fourth inning, to get the win as well as a blown save.
