Vancouver Canadians
The Vancouver Canadians won their third straight game yesterday with a 4-3 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils.
Jamari Baylor led off the game with a single in the first that later saw Peyton Williams drive him home. The C’s loaded the bases in that stanza but couldn’t convert any more runners. Vancouver was 1-7 with runners in scoring position in this game.
Jace Bohrofen moon shot home run in the third followed by a Peyton Williams single made it 3-1 when Dylan Rock doubled home Williams.
Bohrofen was having himself a game in this one with a one-out triple in the seventh. He came home on a fielder’s choice thanks to the bat of Je’Von Ward.
The Canadians pitching staff deserves a lot of credit for the win here too as Pat Gallagher struck out six and allowed three runs in five innings. Conor Larkin (W, 2-0) came on and retired all six batters he faced, which included four strikeouts. Josh Molars handled Tri-City easily in the eighth and Alex Amalfi (S, 1) took care of the Dust Devils in the ninth to secure his first save of the season.
The Canadians and Dust Devils play again tonight at 7:05 pm at Gesa Stadium. Connor O’Halloran will get the start against Jorge Marcheco. The series continues through Sunday.
Buffalo Bisons
The Buffalo Bisons and the Scranton Wilkes Barre RailRiders continued their series Wednesday with the RailRiders winning 8-2.
The RailRiders exploded for seven in the bottom of the second cued by a fielding error by Damiano Palmegiani that allowed Carlos Narvaez to score. Jeter Downs followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Jose Rojas.
Buffalo scratched across single runs in the fourth and sixth but could manage no more in this contest.
Today’s game has no announced starters. The first pitch will be at 6:35 pm.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats won 4-3 on Wednesday night with strong third and fifth innings from their offence.
In the third Alex De Jesus got things going with a line drive to center fielder Marcus Lee Sang scoring Garrett Spain and moving Devonte Brown to 3rd and Alex De Jesus to 2nd.
In the fifth Josh Kasevich singled for the Fisher Cats on a line drive to center field scoring Devonte Brown and Josh Kasevich.
Adam Mack went six innings allowing three runs including a homer and one walk against four strikeouts. He sits at 5-2 with a 3.76 ERA.
Today’s game sees the Fisher Cats send CJ Van Eyk (2-4 7.25 ERA) to the mound against the Fightin Phils Max Castillo (0-3 7.94 ERA). The first pitch will be at 6:35pm.
Dunedin Blue Jays
The Dunedin Blue Jays saw Joey Votto start his rehab assignment from Triple-A Buffalo and fans were treated to another Juaron Watts-Brown start, which saw him tie a previous season-high nine-strikeout performance.
Watts-Brown got support from the offence in the fifth when three straight singles led to an RBI by Adrian Meza to make it 2-1. The Tortugas had struck for two runs in the third.
Dunedin continued the fifth when Manuel Beltre’s pop single fell between three defenders tying the game at 2. The Edward Duran sac fly then allowed Dunedin to go ahead 3-2.
Irv Carter and Kai Peterson held the lead the rest of the way for Watts-Brown giving Dunedin the victory.
