NOTES

Buffalo pitchers took one on the chin. Aaron Sanchez, coming off a fine start, gave up seven runs in 3.1 innings. Troy Watson, Mike Mayers and Brandon Eisert all gave up multiple runs. Catcher Max McDowell pitched the ninth.

Just three hits, all singles, for the Bisons. That was about as big a whupping as you can get.

New Hampshire had a 6-0 lead headed into the seventh inning. Adam Macko was working on a shutout through six innings on three hits. The lead off hitter in the seventh homered. That was followed by a single and a double. Macko was pulled for Eric Pardinho. Pardinho got a fly ball and a ground ball but both runners scored. It was now 6-3. Jimmy Burnette came on for the eighth and three doubles and a walk later the game was tied. Richmond scored another run off Abdiel Mendoza in the top of the ninth.

New Hampshire had scored five runs in the second inning with six singles and two walks. Jsoh Kasevich added a solo home run in the fourth, his third of the season. Trailing 7-6 into the bottom of the ninth, NH loaded the bases with no outs. They could only score one run to send the game to extra innings. In the bottom of the tenth Ryan McCarty doubled in the winning run.

Alan Roden and Josh Kasevich had three hits each. Gabriel Martinez, Miguel Hiraldo and Ryan McCarty had two each.

Conor O'Halloran went six innings for Vancouver. Spokane scored one run off him on fur hits. Two relievers gave up the other three runs.

Vancouver's only run came from a Jace Bohrofen home run. He also had a double. His two hits were half of the C's four in the game. Bofrofen also threw out a runner at home with a throw on a line from right field.

The Dunedin game went into a rain delay in the top of the sixth. Up to that point it was a pitchers game, the teams had five hits between them. Grant Rogers started for the Jays and only gave up one hit over four innings.

T Watson in AAA throws about 5 or 6 different pitches FB 96mph. G Rogers also throws a lot of pitches but FB about 92 mph at best.

I don't really understand what Jays are doing with Nimmalla Rushed him, had to move back to down to appropriate level, and now seem to play him sporadically.

I expect they wanted him to start getting some at bats before the short season started. Then they likely identified some holes in his swing. And they are working on them behind the scenes. Sometimes the game is not a good place to make adjustments

Good news. Tiedemann pitching for the FCL Jays.

Nimmala played on June 7, 8 and 10. But he hasn't played since, we don't know why. You don't need to use the IL in the FCL as the roster sizes are large.

Tiedemann gave up two hits, two walks and two wild pitches while getting one out. A bit wild for his return to the mound.

Tiedemann probably used up this pitch allotment. Hope he feels well over the next 2-3 days.

Alan Roden is on his way to Buffalo to replace Barger.

Also Nathan Lukes had thumb surgery and is out for an extended period.

Rough for Lukes. He may have been getting the call-up otherwise.

Who would you like to see promoted? With Clarke, Tirotta, and Roden in AAA now, Kasevich (124 wRC+) seems like the most deserving, though I suspect they could hold him back to make sure he gets regular reps at SS once Jimenez back. Devonte Brown's underlying numbers are fairly concerning (let alone the K%). Turconi (118 wRC+) has the OBP skills but, the logjam strikes again.

For AA pitching, Macko and Wallace should get a promotion soon. Dominguez, who I've always thought was a sleeper, has underlying numbers that look even worse than his output. Van Eyk will get there - but he needs to just stay healthy and be consistent.

For A+ hitters, Orf (127 wRC+) and Brown (130 wRC+) were performing the best but both are injured. Bohrofen's looked lost since April.

For A+ pitchers, Jennings and Estrada are looking ready for the challenge. Diving deeper - none of the pitchers in the rotation have an xFIP worse than 4.04, with Rafael Sanchez at an incredibly low 2.94 xFIP but .415 BABIP.

Another challenge of course with any promotion is who replaces them - and there aren't enough hitters pushing from the lower levels. I could see them considering Arias (122 wRC+ prior to his 2 HR/8 RBI night) and Beltre (117 wRC+) for a promotion soon, with Alexis Hernandez in the mix. For pitchers, Rogers, JWB, and Perez will all be promoted soon enough.
