Buffalo won both ends of a doubleheader. New Hampshire and Dunedin lost, Vancouver were rained out. The affiliates had a strong start to the season and the first week or so produced excellent results. However the three lower teams have fallen off and have lost their winning records. Buffalo, despite losing some pitching to the big club and the IL, and despite Alek Manoah not helping, do have a winning record and are hanging in well. Spencer Horwitz and Orelvis are leading the way and Orelvis did hit his seventh home run. However its not all smooth sailing for him as discussed below.

Buffalo scored three runs in the first inning off Julio Teheran and went on to win 5-3. Leo Jimenez hit his second home run of the season, an opposite field shot. The Bisons had four doubles by Orelvis, Will Robertson, Spencer Horwitz and Damiano Palmegiani. Horwitz added a single and a walk. Paolo Espino started and gave up three runs in four innings. Fluharty, Danner and Pop added three scoreless innings.

Buffalo trailed initially in game two until Cam Eden homered in the third inning. Steward Berroa scored on a wild pitch in the same inning to put the Bisons up 2-1. In the fourth inning Eden came to bat with the bases loaded on walks and a hit batter. He doubled to drive in three runs. Shortly thereafter Orelvis hit a three run home run. Buffalo scored ten runs with five hits. They also walked ten times. Cam Eden had two hits and a walk and drove in four runs. Orelvis was 2-4.

Paxton Schultz and Luis Quinones combined to pitch five innings of one hit ball.

Orelvis's home run was his seventh, which is excellent. But before we go all "call him up", note he has made six errors playing second base in 21 games. That is definitely not good. So he does need more time, unless you need a DH.

Devereaux Harrison started and gave up two runs in five innings. He struck out five. NH trailed 2-1 for several innings but tied the game in the eighth, Michael Turconi doubled and Gabriel Martinez drove him in with a single. Unfortunately Ryan Boyer was hit around in the ninth leading to three runs.

Alan Roden and Turconi each had a single and a double.

Grant Rogers started for Dunedin and pitched pretty well. In 4.2 innings he struck out seven. He did let in a run in the fifth but left two baserunners on. They both scored after the left the game. The hitters were quiet, just five hits.
