*** 3 Stars!!! ***

3. Michael Turconi, New Hampshire - 2/3, HR, BB -

2. Ricky Tiedemann - 3.2IP 3R/1ER 2BB 11K

1. Mitch White, Buffalo - 5IP 4H 0R/ER 1BB 5K 6GO

Notes

Are you sitting down? Mitch White tossed five shutout innings. A nice response considering the prospect he was traded for, Nick Frasso, spun six shutout innings in his first Triple-A start to win the most recent Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week award. Zach Pop, Brandon Eisert, Nate Pearson and Rowan Wick each put up a goose egg with K totals of 0, 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Steward Berroa doubled in his first Triple-A at-bat to score fellow New Hampshire call-up Leo Jiménez with the first run of the game. Jiménez was plunked twice in his at-bats and was replaced by Tanner Morris as a pinch-runner.

Ricky Tiedemann threw 46 of his 64 pitches for strikes. Errors by Michael Turconi and Rainer Nuñez hurt Tiedemann and Troy Watson as Watson allowed a Tiedemann runner to score. Watson did whiff four over two shutout frames and a Watson runner was stranded by Mason Fluharty, T.J. Brock and Juan Nuñez got the final 10 outs of relief between them without a run scoring. Alan Roden and Turconi homered, numbers six and two for them respectively. Damiano Palmegiani and Will Robertson and two hits apiece with Robertson getting a triple.

Tiedemann just turned 21. Without the injury this year he could have been in the majors. Maybe next year he makes the jump.

We should see TJ Brock, Fluharty, Burnette (AAA), maybe C Dallas in AAA early in the season. Many position players will also be in AAA early next year like Orelvis, Barger, Leo Jimenez, Palmegiani, Roden, Clarke and possibly Sosa. That is a lot of possibilities to get promoted to the Majors.

There is still a lot of talent in Vancouver that should start in AA next year. Many position players acquired in the 2022 draft.

It does not look like Vancouver will be as stacked next year. Bohrofen is playing a lot better than Roden did in Dunedin last year. I would be very happy if he succeeds like Roden. He is 2 years younger than Roden. Angel Del Rosario is not 21 until Jan next year, he has had a very hot Aug. At 6' he could develop more power, he already is a SB threat. Plays IF/OF.

Leo Jimenez is not in the Bisons lineup today. He has not gone on the IL (yet).

I went back to look at Jimenez's at bats yesterday. In his first at bat he was hit on the elbow guard. No issue.

In the fourth inning he was hit either on the wrist or just above the wrist. He seemed to be in a lot of discomfort and was immediately removed.

I assume he went for imaging last night. I would also assume it still sore today.

BA comment on Roden yesterday:

"He has elite plate skills and he’s an above-average defender in a corner outfield spot. He’s really not that different from Nolan Schanuel even from a swing and setup perspective. That said, like Schanuel his EVs are pretty below-average. I think it’s a nice hit tool driven corner outfield profile that can unlock some more power in the next 4-5 years."

Michael Dominguez has ten K's in five innings tonight. He is rapidly moving up the prospect rankings.

I think that's a pretty fair summary of Roden. I'm probably a little less optimistic that he's an above average corner OF but he's definitely got a good chance to be at least average. The elite plate skills are what pop out at you with Roden. Its way more than just strike zone control. Kasevich has that skill as well but doesn't have the pitch recognition and pitch selection skills of Roden. It was fascinating in Vancouver this year to watch a whole batch of 2022 college draftees at once to compare and contrast skills, attributes, etc. Roden was "mikes" ahead of the others in plate skills and it was obvious after watching them all for just a few games.

I would think Roden was Alans ahead more than Mikes.

What is an average, above average and elite corner OF? Please list some tools and characteristics. J Barfield, R Henderson and G Bell for example. "Elite" most likely does not apply to a corner OF.

TB seems to use 3 CFs in the OF. We are using Biggio, Merrifield, Schneider possibly T Morris and others because someone is LH vs RH and their hit is better than others on the roster.
