Vancouver Canadians

The Eugene Emeralds scored eight runs by the end of four innings and cruised to an 8-6 win on Wednesday night against the Vancouver Canadians.

Adam Macko was roughed up early and often on a three-run Luis Toribio homer in the first and then another run tacked on by The Emeralds before the end of that frame.

Macko was tagged for another run in the second and was chased in the fourth after giving up two more runs.

Garrett Spain hit his ninth homer of the year to score three and bring the C’s to 8-6 but that was as close as Vancouver would get.

Devereaux Harrison will pitch tonight for Vancouver with the hopes of getting the Canadians back in the win column. Nick Sinacola will pitch for the Emeralds.

Buffalo Bisons

With Bo Bichette in the lineup as part of his rehab assignment with the Toronto Blue Jays, The Buffalo Bisons still lost 5-4 in 11 innings on Wednesday night.

Bichette got two hits and scored a run. The Bisons did get out to a 2-0 lead in this one with Ernie Clement hitting a double scoring Spencer Horwitz and Bo Bichette taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

The Red Wings pushed to win in extra innings though scoring a run to make it 4-3 in the top of the 10th inning. The Bisons have salvaged a lot of wins in extra innings and did so here as Spencer Horwitz’s single with two outs in the bottom of the tenth. He drove in Tanner Morris and tied the game at four a piece.

The Red Wings did score a run in the 11th and the Bisons could not mount a comeback this time. The Bisons and the Rochester Red Wings are back at it tonight in the third game of the series.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats surrendered four runs in the first inning thanks to a Grant Lavigne homer off of right-hander Luis Quinones, and that contributed to the Hartford Yard Goats’ 8-3 win on Wednesday night.

Will Robertson solo homer got the Fisher Cats their first run of the night. He now has 10th home runs and 42nd RBI. Rainer Nunez and Alan Roden both had three hits each for New Hampshire.

Quinones went just 3.1 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Quinones has now struck out 13 batters in his last two starts.

New Hampshire and Hartford are back at it with a doubleheader on Thursday. Ricky Tiedemann (0-2, 6.75 ERA) and Michael Dominguez (0-0, 5.68 ERA) will get the starts for New Hampshire

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Blue Jays were our lone winners on Wednesday night tagging the Clearwater Threshers pitching staff for 12 runs. Dunedin got four runs right off the hop in the first inning and never trailed in this game.

They had an 8-1 lead by the top of the fifth before adding two in the eighth and one in the ninth.

Nick Goodwin got the ball rolling on a one-out triple in the top of the first. Edward Duran’s single then allowed Brennan Orf and Manuel Beltre to score and that moved Bryce Arnold over to second base with two outs.

Goodwin also homered in the top of the ninth to make it 12-2 after a Jace Bohrofen eighth inning homer made it 10-2 for Dunedin.

Kendry Rojas will get the ball for Dunedin tonight as this series continues. Rojas is 3-5 with a 4.04 ERA.

Tiedemann ends up with 2ER in 3.2IP, but went K, groundout, single, walk in the fourth before Fluharty let both runners score on two consecutive doubles.

Five strikeouts, one walk, three balls hit out of the infield. Looks pretty good to me. 56 pitches sounds about right too.
