The Vancouver Canadians dropped a 5-1 decision against Eugene Emeralds in Eugene on Wednesday night. Despite scoring in the top of the first inning to make it 1-0, that was all the offence Vancouver could muster against an Emeralds team that broke the Canadian’s four-game win streak.
The Buffalo Bisons fell by a score of 4-1 to The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for their second straight loss. The Bisons could only manage one run in the fifth inning on Jordan Luplow's solo home run. Casey Lawrence pitched a strong game for the Bisons with six innings of work allowing just two runs, only one being earned while striking out five to go with two walks.
Dunedin exploded for 11 runs against the Clearwater Threshers Wednesday scoring one in the bottom of the first, two in the third inning, three in the fifth inning, one in the seventh and four in the eighth. The Threshers did manage to score three in the seventh inning to make it 6-5 Dunedin but that was as close as they would come. Ryan McCarty was 2/4 for Dunedin with three runs and two RBI’s. The Toronto Blue Jays signed free agent SS Ryan McCarty to a minor league contract in July of 2022.
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Somerset Patriots for a second game in a row, defeating them by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. It was Chad Dallas, The former Vancouver Canadians pitcher who was promoted to Double-A New Hampshire in mid-May, who silenced the Patriot’s bats. Dallas in his sixth Double-A start allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out seven. His ERA is under two in 17 innings of Double-A ball.
New Hampshire scored in the top half of the first and then again in the seventh. Patriots pitcher Ian Hamilton gave up a walk to load the bases and that allowed Orelvis Martinez to drive in his 45th RBI of the season on a sac fly to centre field. Zac Cook scored on the play.
