New Hampshire edges Harrisburg. Buffalo outscores Toledo while Vancouver and Dunedin lose in Tuesday’s action.

Buffalo 10 Toledo 7

New Hampshire 6 Harrisburg 5

Vancouver 0 Everett 2

Bradenton 10 Dunedin 3

Boxscores

Leo Jimenez, the parent club Toronto Blue Jays 19th ranked prospect, had himself a day against the Harrisburg Senators collecting three hits in four plate appearances as well as three runs and an RBI. He had seven total bases, a double and a home run. He now sits at .300 BA with a .775 OPS. Another former Vancouver Canadians that we were impressed with while he was with the C’s, Damiano Polmegiani had two hits and two RBIs at DH from the three spot in the lineup. He is the Blue Jays 29th ranked prospect. On the mound, Sam Robberse was touched for seven hits, four ER and one home run. Robberse is unique in that he came out of the Netherlands and put in a serious time when there was no baseball due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Aquasox blanked the Canadians 2-0 down the I5 in Everett as Vancouver was held to just four hits in the game. Vancouver hadn’t been shut out this season.

It was all Bradenton against the Dunedin Blue Jays as the Marauders had three two-run innings and a four-run fourth. Two Dunedin Pitchers gave up seven earned runs in just three innings of work.

The DSL players are going to change as they mature. Put on weight and maybe grow taller. So stats are something I try to not pay too much attention to. E Bonilla is at 3bb vs 1K which is promising.

Some young pitchers are doing well. FCL Nolan Perry was good. I don't know his stuff. Irv Carter FSL I read used his SL and CH to K 3 batters in 3 innings.

Jimenez likely jumps up the Jays prospect list midseason. MLB.com says in their Top 30 prospects for the Jays that defensively he could already be playing SS in the majors.

He had pretty good years making contact and getting on base in 2019 and 2021. Then he hit .230 last year, although still had a .340 OBP.

Last year is starting to look like the outlier. At age 22 he still young for AA.

I guess the concern would be the lack of power (although that tends to come with age) and his build at 5'10" 215 lbs. He might be too big to stick at SS and doesn't hit for enough power to be 3B.

But is looking like someone who could be a regular in the majors.

Our Niall had to leave town for a family matter so he asked Ben to sub in for him. Niall and Ben are both based in Vancouver.

Ben's user name reflects a podcast he does on Vancouver sports. It is called the golden V podcast. For those of you on the west coast you should check it out.

Great bounce back for Ohashi tonight in Dunedin. Hopefully he's back on track after a rough May.

It's going to be interesting to see what the Jays do as players are ready for promotion. Palmegiani looks the most likely to be ticketed for AAA, but it'd be very difficult to get him 3B reps. He could get 1B reps ahead of Talley easily enough. But it'd be hard to move Orelvis or Jimenez up, and the organization might want to see consistency from the former and health from the latter. Similar problems a level below, with Kasevich, Turconi, and Roden all looking ready (though it'd be a lot easier to find a spot for Roden).

Of course, I'm sure all of this will be resolved via trade deadline deals. I would say there is a pretty good chance we lose some middle infielders in deals.

Roden is 23, and has shown he is ready for double A.  He's a third round pick and you don't want to hold him up longer than necessary.

Agreed Mike. Roden is the only obvious promotion candidate in Vancouver.

Anyone with thoughts on what they've seen from Garrett Spain? Late start to season, only 94 PA's, but his .678 SLG% is impressive.

Watched him for the 1st time, Seems to have some swing and miss. The 1st 2 PA's were GB's that didn't get out of the infield, but the 2nd one was topped and he showed good speed beating it out. The double was really a ground single between 1st and 2nd that he took 2nd on a throw home.

The next 2 PA's were high drives that easily cleared the RF and right centre fences.

On D, he apparently bobbled a ball backing up a missed diving attempt by Dasan, but made 2 nice catches coming in on sinking liners.

He's only about a half year older than Doughty and Kasevich despite getting drafted a year earlier.

I actually tweeted out in the spring that Spain was a deep sleeper for 2023; he's one of those guys you had to watch a few times in 2022 to really see beyond the pedestrian results. He runs well and plays good defense although I doubt he'll ever be a regular CF - he's ok there part-time.

Offensively last year, he tried to do too much and hit a homer every time up. I suggested he needed to focus on smaller ball aspects - hitting the ball hard and into the gaps and stop worrying about hitting homers.

His swing definitely gets long at times still but he's got enough pop and the base running/defense to be a solid bench OF if he keeps up with his 2023 approach.

In an org sorely low on OF depth, he's intriguing.

Thanks, Marc.

As usual, Marc's got it summarized nicely. I've only seen him twice now. Total first impression (you need way more views to really judge) for me would be that he's strictly a corner OF and his swing made him have trouble hitting any velocity. There's definitely some thump there though and his plate approach appears more advanced than someone like Doughty.
