First Star - Ernie Clement
NOTES
Ernie Clement had a day. 5-5, two run home run, three runs scored. Clement is 27 years old and has 312 major league plate appearances. In those appearances he has hit .204. Buy maybe at 27 he has found something new. Davis Schneider was 3-5 with his sixth home run and a double and three runs driven in. Schneider, like many Jays, got off to a slow start but he has a 821 OPS in May. Tanner Morris, another slow starter, also had three hits and three RBI.
Addison Barger went on the IL two weeks ago. The injury was described as minor so he should be back soon.
In New Hampshire Dylan Rock and Zac Cook each hit their second home runs of the season, both were two run shots. They also singled. Orelvis Martinez doubled in the second inning, it was his first double of the season. This season he has 14 hits, 9 home runs, one triple, one double and three singles. That is a strange mix.
Troy Watson got a four out save. His strikeout numbers are not great, 9 in 12.2 IP, but his WHIP is just over 1.0.
Hunter Gregory started for Vancouver, pitched an inning, and then left the game. Cooper Benson, who may have been surprised to be called on to pitch, gave up six runs in the second inning. Only two of them were earned due to a Doughty error. He went on to give up six more over the next two innings with two of those earned as well. Final tally for Benson, 12 runs, 4 earned. Three errors for the C's in the game. Emulating the big league team I guess.
Devonte Brown homered, added a single and drove in three runs. Rainer Nunez was 3-4 with two doubles and three RBI. His average is up to .310.
In Dunedin, Glenn Santiago picked up an RBI on a bases loaded walk in the first inning and doubled in two more in the second inning. The D Jays scored six runs with five hits.
Eliander Alcalde had a nice start, six innings, four hits, one run, six K's.
