Four runs in the third and four more in the sixth allowed Buffalo to derail the Yankees affiliate. A bases-loaded walk by Davis Schneider opened the scoring before a balk, an Addison Barger groundout and a Rafael Lantigua single accounted for all the runs in the third. A two-run triple by Trevor Schwecke and a two-run home run by Eric Stamets wrapped up the scoring in the sixth. Lantigua had three hits and a stolen base. Schwecke and Yoshi Tsutsugo had two hits apiece with Schwecke getting a double. Barger had a hit and L.J. Talley was hit by two pitches. Nathan Lukes drew a walk as did Stevie Berman who also stole his first base of the year.
Bowden Francis allowed a run on three hits and struck out three over 4-1/3 innings. Eric Yardley walked a batter but stranded a runner for Francis by finishing off the fifth to get the win. Nate Pearson struck out a batter over a perfect sixth and threw 10 of 16 pitches for strikes. Thomas Hatch worked around a hit and a walk by striking out four over two shutout frames. Julian Merryweather allowed a hit but struck out one with 12 of 16 pitches called for strikes.
