This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
Let's start with the playoff team. Dunedin had a winner take all game with Fort Myers with the winner getting a trip to the FSL final. Dunedin started the scoring in the second inning. With two outs Ryan McCarty singled as did Roque Salinas and Victor Mesia making it a 1-0 game. Two walks followed to make it 2-0. In the fifth inning Manuel Beltre singed and scored on a Cade Doughty single, 3-0. Dunedin had 11 hits in the game but were hurt by hitting into three double plays and recording an out on the bases.
Meanwhile the pitching was excellent. Lazaro Estrada started and went four shutout innings with just one hit and no walks. Rafael Ohashi followed and he did allow a run in two innings. But Conor Larkin threw two shutdown innings and Ben Baggett picked up his second save by handling the ninth.
The playoffs are slipping away from Buffalo. A five run sixth inning was their undoing in this game. Kyle Johnston allowed four runs, compounded by his own error in the middle of the action.
Cullen Large doubled in two runs in the fourth inning and John Aiello singled in the third run in the sixth. Davis Schneider and Chris Bec had two hits each.
New Hampshire scored four runs in the eighth inning to break open a 1-1 tie. In that inning Hugo Cardona walked, Cam Eden singled and Luis De Los Santos doubled in a run. Addison Barger was intentionally walked followed by a two run single by Will Robertson. Robertson had earlier scored the first run with a solo home run. An error allowed the fifth run to score. Robertson was 3-4 with three RBI and had half of the Fisher Cats six hits.
Sem Robberse had been pitching well in AA but hadn't been recording a lot of strikeouts. He made up for that on Saturday with nine K's in six innings. The only run he allowed was unearned. Harrisburg had two hits off him in the first inning and just one hit in the next five.
