Today is the last day of the season for the A level teams. Vancouver are in the playoffs but Dunedin won't know their fate until tomorrow. Win and they are in, lose and they need help. Dunedin took care of business on Saturday with a big win. Buffalo, New Hampshire and Vancouver lost.

Gwynett Buffalo

New Hampshire 4 Reading 5 - 10 innings

Eugene 4 Vancouver 2

Palm Beach 3 Dunedin 9

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

Another seven pitcher game for Buffalo. Taylor Saucedo gave up two of the four runs.

Just five hits for the Bisons. LJ Talley had two. As mentioned here previously Talley is hitting well and if he can improve some next season he could make it to the major leagues. Talley is hitting .287 for Buffalo and has just three strikeouts in 31 September at-bats. Davis Schneider and Chris Bec each walked three times.

The Fisher Cats find new ways to lose. This was a low offense game, just five hits for each team through nine innings. Phil Clarke drove in two runs in the top of the tenth. Jimmy Burnette had pitched two good innings but the manager tried to get a third inning out of him. It didn't work. He walked the lead off hitter, then a triple tied the game. A wild pitch was the coup de grace.

The Fisher Cats had good pitching through nine innings. Sem Robberse went five innings, giving up two runs on four hits. He struck out three. Yosver Zulueta went two shutout innings, walking two and striking out three.

Hugo Cardona drove in two runs with a bloop and a blast. He homered in the third and blooped a single in the fourth.

For Vancouver Dahian Santos gave up a home run to the first hitter of the game. A lead off double in the third led to another run for Eugene. In total Santos went four innings, he did strike out seven.

The C's just picked up four hits. Two of them came in the third inning. After two walks PK Morris and Gabriel Martinez had RBI singles. Martinez had two hits. The C's lost the game by giving up two runs in the ninth.

13 hits for the D Jays. Victor Mesia hit his first high A home run, a three run shot. It was one of two hits. Roque Salinas went 4-5, scoring two and driving in two. Devonte Brown doubled and walked four times.

The Jays used six pitchers. Anthony Kay was one as he continues his rehab. Lazaro Estrada started. He threw 60 pitches, 52 of which were fastballs. That is a high percentage. He did get 12 whiffs with his fastball.

Three Stars

Third Star - Victor Mesia

Second Star - Hugo Cardona

First Star - Roque Salinas

Talley has been a great org soldier, but this run he’s been on since his promotion to AAA is new, especially coming after 101 rough ABs in AA to start the season. He played a lot of 2b in college, and if he’s good enough to man all three IF corners, I could see it. Prob a Vinny Capra type / AAAA player to me though

Dunedin's game today is like a playoff game. Our position players are older players. Hopefully the pitcher has a good game. I don't know the lineup or the pitcher.

I see Devonte Brown's name now in the game's summaries and wonder where he came from. By looking it up I see that he was signed July 26 out of North Carolina University as a 22 year old senior. He's played outfield his last two years of school and is a good hitter so hopefully he can progress through the system.

Dunedin's game was rained out, as was Bradenton, who were a half game back. So Dunedin have postponed their way into the playoffs.

Thanks Gerry. I understand it is a 3 game series 13th 15th and 16th.
