Buffalo and New Hampshire outhit their opponents but lost. Vancouver and Dunedin continued their winning ways. Gabriel Moreno missed the Buffalo game, he was expected to be back in there.

Lehigh Valley 8 Buffalo 7

New Hampshire 1 Hartford 2

Vancouver 3 Everett 1

Jupiter1 Dunedin 8

FCL Tigers 1 FCL Blue Jays 6

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

Buffalo outhit LHV 12-10 but were out homered 3-0. Five hitters had two hits each. Spencer Horwitz was one of them, both of his hits were doubles. Vinny Capra drove in three runs with his two hits.

Julian Merryweather pitched well, Trent Thornton gave up a run in the ninth and took the loss. Graham Spraker and Colton Shaver were released as the Bisons continue to makeover their roster.

Ricky Tiedemann pitched three strong innings with five K's. Luis Quinones pitched the other five innings and took the loss but pitched well.

The Fisher Cats outhit Hartford 11-5. Davis Schneider had four hits, John Aiello, Phil Clarke and Zac Cook had two each.

Four pitchers held Everett to three hits. Trenton Wallace started and went six innings with seven K's.

The C's scored all their runs in the ninth. Leo Jimenez and PK Morris doubled in a run each. Damiano Palmegiani singled in the third run.

Dunedin have been on fire since their new guys arrived. They scored eight runs with nine hits. Roque Salinas had three out of the nine spot. Six other hitters had a hit each.

Lazaro Estrada started and threw 3.1 shutout innings. 48 of his 56 pitches were four seam fastballs, and he got ten whiffs on them. His other eight pitches were curveballs. Velocity was 92.2 on the FB so it was good to get those whiffs.

In the FCL Angel Del Rosario was recently bumped down from Dunedin and he is showing that's a mistake. He had three hits on Friday and is hitting .364 back in the FCL. Eliander Alcalde threw five shutout innings with seven K's.

Three Stars

Third Star - Eliander Alcalde

Second Star - Roque Salinas

First Star - Davis Schneider

Wow, that's a quick turn of events for Spraker - he was getting buzz as recently as last off season as a wildcard bullpen arm.  Interesting to see the FO adding veteran depth to Buffalo.  Those are deep adds to the depth chart but why not, it's not like there are prospects blocking too many guys on the Bisons.

Personally, I'd rather see Nathan Lukes as the 5th OF, although I really have no idea about his ability to play CF in the bigs.  He's a lefty bat, gets on base, 18-2 in SBs.  He's a bit of a throwback-hit-your-way-on type, and hasn't even had regular playing time in the minors since 2018.  A non-prospect for years, in other words, but if anyone deserves a chance based on performance alone, he's the guy.  And he's never been in the bigs, at 28 years old.  A grinder like this could be a mentor for a team that found the game easy to play at every level on their way up.

He has played more in centre than the other OF positions throughout his career, including this year, FWIW, and has plenty of experience in both LF and RF.

Call him up already!

Yeah, I don't know what more Lukes has to do to deserve a call-up. I'd rather him get a chance than going with the recycled Bradley but Bradley -- nice guy, veteran influence, yada, yada, yada.

Agreed on Lukes - he has been around since 2015 (7th round Cleveland pick), spent a few years in the Tampa system (thus trained well on how to play), and this is his first year here. 298/363/429 18-2 SB-CS 71 K in 91 games isn't bad by any stretch (391 PA). 113 wRC+ Steamer projects him as a 253/308/377 hitter in the majors right now, basically he'd be a replacement level player. Nothing 'wow', but not bad either. I'd give him a shot before, say, Billy Hamilton who the Jays are rumored to be looking at right now (pure speed, nothing else).

Tsustsugo hit his 3rd homer in 36 at-bats tonight. He's not an outfielder but you can see him as a left-handed DH on days when Springer is in CF, Kirk is catching and Vladdy is at 1st base. And as a PH.

It's the right time of the year for him.
