Buffalo had a walk off win. Vancouver and the FCL Jays had nice wins. New Hampshire lost while Dunedin were rained out. Vancouver's Garrett Spain went deep, twice.

St. Paul 4 Buffalo 5 - 10 innings

Altoona 8 New Hampshire 7

Vancouver 5 Hillsboro 3

Bradenton at Dunedin - postponed

FCL Phillies 0 FCL Blue Jays 4

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

The Bisons game went to extra innings and with the runner on second there is one Buffalo hitter who you would want to be up, Nate Lukes. He came through with a game winning single, one of his two hits on the night. Chavez Young was 2-4 and drove in two runs. Jordan Groshans had one hit and drove in the tying run in the eighth.

It was another bullpen game for the Bisons. In total they used six pitchers. Gabriel Ponce gave up three runs in two innings. Taylor Saucedo pitched an inning with two K's.

It wasn't a good night to be a New Hampshire pitcher. Trent Palmer needed 71 pitches to get through 2.2 innings. He walked four, gave up four hits and four runs. Andrew Bash and Cre Finfrock followed and both were scored on. Thomas Ruwe allowed two of Finfrock's runners to score.

The Cats scored four runs in the second inning. Zac Cook hit a three run home run and Ryan Gold added a solo shot. Will Robertson doubled in the fifth run but had to leave the game after the double, presumably with a running related injury. Cook added a sac fly and Cam Eden singled in the seventh run. Cook, Eden and Robertson had two hit games as did Spencer Horwitz.

Orelvis Martinez is one for his last 22 with ten strikeouts so he got the night off.

It was Ricky Tiedemann day for Vancouver. Ricky pitched well but had a little double trouble. After cruising through three innings, a walk followed by a double gave Hillsboro a run in the fourth. In the fifth another double was followed by a couple of singles to give Hillsboro their second run. Tiedemann was pulled after 4.1 innings, four hits, one walk and six K's. Buck Farmer followed with 3.2 shutout innings.

Garrett Spain homered for the C's in the fifth. He liked it so much he did it again in the eighth. In between Steward Berroa and Addison Barger doubled in runs. Spain and Andres Sosa were the hitters with two hits each.

The FCL Jays had ten hits. Two players had a multi hit game, JC Masson and Luis Garcia. Starter Eliander Alcalde, 18, struck out seven in five shutout innings.

Anyone heard anything about Rafael Ohashi, the prospect out of Mogi Guaçu, Brazil? Hasn't pitched since June 11 when he went 5 and allowed one unearned run.

By googling his name I saw that Dunedin put him on the 7 day IL on June 24. He must have a minor injury of some sort.

Boy, worst day of his pro career for Tiedemann. 4 1/3 IP 2 R/ER on 1 walk 6 K 4 H 1 HBP - 2nd lowest inning total (4 IP on June 17th but no runs), highest hit total (previous high was 3), 5th time allowing 2 runs, 4th time 2 ER (never allowed 3 in a game). His 3rd time at 80 pitches (dead on), the 4 line drives are his career high (April 15th last time he allowed that many).

Dang, when that is as bad as it gets so far I'd say he is off to a great first season. Wonder when they'll give him a shot at AA? Probably once he gets a 6 IP game in.
