Buffalo and Vancouver were in the winners circle Wednesday. New Hampshire dropped both games of a doubleheader and Dunedin were walked off.
Buffalo 8 Lehigh Valley 4
The Bisons had a pair of three-run innings and one-run innings to upend the Phillies affiliate. Samad Taylor doubled home two runs in the third. Tanner Morris singled home a run in the fifth. A Cullen Large fielder's choice, a Logan Warmoth RBI single and a Nathan Lukes plunking with the bases loaded produced three more runs in the seventh. Warmoth added another RBI knock in the ninth. Taylor was perfect at the plate by going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and his 23rd stolen base of the year. Lukes, Morris and Warmoth all had two-hit games with Morris drawing a walk. Every Bison hitter reached base by a hit or a walk at least once.
Nick Allgeyer gave up two runs (one earned) over 2-1/3 innings on three hits, including a home run. He struck out a pair before turning the ball over to Derek Holland. He allowed an Allgeyer runner to score in 1-2/3 innings. Jake Elliott gave up two runs in the fifth that allowed the IronPigs to tie the game in the fifth. Shaun Anderson was the winner with three shutout innings of two-hit ball, striking out five. Kyle Johnston worked a scoreless ninth.
Somerset 2 New Hampshire 0 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)
The Fisher Cats were limited to three hits by the Yankees affiliate. Orelvis Martinez and Will Robertson doubled and Spencer Horwitz had a base knock. Zac Cook had the only walk.
Hayden Juenger suffered the loss as he gave up a two-run homer among his two hits over three innings. He struck out four and walked nobody. Sean Mellen put up three scoreless frames and Thomas Ruwe had a shutout seventh.
Somerset 4 New Hampshire 3 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
The Patriots walked off the Fisher Cats to cap off the doubleheader sweep. Luis De Los Santos had a sacrifice fly in the fourth to open the scoring. Will Robertson rocked a two-run homer in the sixth. Robertson had two hits while John Aiello singled and walked. Rafael Lantigua had a double. Spencer Horwitz, Orelvis Martinez, Cam Eden and Chris Bec all put a notch in the hit column. Martinez also stole his fifth base.
Paxton Schultz surrendered three runs on five hits and a walk over four innings but struck out five. Sean Rackoski allowed two Schultz runners to score in 1-2/3 innings. Jimmy Burnette stranded a Rackoski runner but took the loss after allowing the walkoff run on two hits and a walk over one inning.
Vancouver 9 Eugene 8 (10 Innings)
What had the makings of a come-from-ahead loss turned into a walkoff win for the C's instead in the extra frame against the Giants affiliate. Addison Barger bashed a three-run home run in the first A two-run single by Mack Mueller highlighted a three-run third. Trevor Schwecke singled home another run in the seventh. Miguel Hiraldo singled home the tying run in the 10th inning before Hugo Cardona brought in the winning run with a fielder's choice to short as the throw to the plate resulted in an error. Schwecke had three hits, Barger was hit by a pitch to go along with his home run while Mueller had a hit, an intentional walk and a plunk. Steward Berroa walked twice and stole a base. Davis Schneider singled and walked.
Chad Dallas gave up two home runs, including a grand slam but managed to grind it out for five innings. That resulted in five runs on seven hits and three walks to go along with five strikeouts. Sean Wymer, Ryan Boyer and Jol Concepion put up a scoreless sixth, seven and eighth inning respectively. Concepcion could not close it out and gave up two runs in the ninth. Garrett Farmer gave up a run in the 10th inning but got the victory.
Jupiter 4 Dunedin 3
The D-Jays fought back from a 4-2 deficit only to lose in a walkoff against the Marlins affiliate. Angel Del Rosario brought in two runs with an RBI single and groundout in the second and seventh innings respectively. Jommer Hernandez tied the game with a run-scoring single in the ninth. Hernandez had a triple and Adriel Sotolongo had a double among their two hits. Del Rosario reached base a couple of times as he took one for the team. Rainer Nuņez had a hit but Rikelbin De Castro, Estiven Machado and Damiano Palmegiani were a combined 0-for-12 with Machado drawing a walk.
Michael Dominguez was dinged for four runs over 4-2/3 innings on six hits but had a 5-0 K/BB total. Julian Valdez retired all seven batters he faced, striking out two and stranding two Dominguez runners. Ben Baggett got through the sixth but Justin Kelly served up a walkoff homer to the only batter he faced.
