Leo Jimenez turned 20 in May.  He's a fine fielding shortstop.  He's hit almost exactly .300 over his last two minor league seasons with an even W/K (which is even more impressive than it was 15 years ago).  He lacks power- last night's homer was the first of his minor league career- and he won't steal many bases, but everything else seems to be there.

I dunno Mike, if Jiminez did that at 5 years old, I'd be mightily impressed.

Vancouver is the only hope for minor league ball tonight. Buffalo, New Hampshire, Dunedin and the FCL Jays are all rained out.

When the trade was made to acquire Joakim Soria the price was two players to be named later. Well the price has been named.

Catcher JJ D'Orazio and pitcher Yaifer Perdomo have been dealt. D'Orazio is one of the Jays many catching prospects so the Jays can afford to lose one. Perdomo put up big strikeout numbers in the FCL and just made his first start for Dunedin.

Yaifer Perdomo - IFA, 36 IP this year (mostly rookie) 4.3 BB/9 vs 16 K/9 at age 19. Looks like a live arm, but how much potential? Impossible to say without reading a scouting report (growth potential, speed, spin, pitches).

JJ D'Orazio - IFA, also just reached A ball mid-season. 264/305/368 isn't too impressive. 15 BB vs 75 K's in 270 PA in the minors (2019 & 2021). Yeah, that is a no-brainer to let go in a trade. Also 19.

"No-brainer" reads to me like "not an asset". And I don't agree with that - he's a lottery ticket at this point. For example, 2009 Salvador Perez was also 19, reached A ball mid-season, slashed .267/.313/.356.
