Worcester 4 Buffalo 1
Binghamton 3 New Hampshire 2
Vancouver 8 Hillsboro 7
Dunedin 7 Lakeland 8 - 11 innings
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
The Bisons were being "perfect gamed" by Worcester through five innings. Cullen Large singled to start the sixth and scored on an error. Forrest Wall had an infield single in the ninth for Buffalo's second hit, and that was it.
Thomas Hatch through five innings had shut down Worcester on four hits with eight K's. But in the sixth a two out three run home run ruined Hatch's shutout. It was Hatch's 94th pitch of the night.
Only five hits for the Fisher Cats, all singles. Chris Bec had two hits and scored both runs. Jordan Groshans and Samad Taylor had the night off.
Reilly Hovis started and took the loss.
Zac Cook homered in the ninth to break a 7-7 tie. It was his fourth hit of the night and the C's third home run. Spencer Horwitz and Davis Schneider went deep earlier in the game. In addition to Cook's 4-4 performance the other multi hit game belonged to Orelvis Martinez who was 3-5 with a double.
Adam Kloffenstein had a rough first inning. Two hits, a walk, a hit batter and a wild pitch led to two runs. The second wasn't any better, three more hits and two walks led to three more runs. That was the end of the night for Kloffenstein. The bullpen threw seven innings with just two unearned runs allowed.
Dunedin played a tight game. Tied at five heading to the ninth Dasan Brown homered to give the Jays a 6-5 lead. Unfortunately a Lakeland hitter tied the game with another home run with two outs in the ninth. Riley Tirotta singled in the designated runner in the tenth but once again Lakeland answered. On to the eleventh where Dunedin were unable to score their designated runner while Lakeland succeeded.
Dasan Brown was 2-5 with a walk and three runs scored. That was the only multi hit hitter in the lineup.
I just realised today that there are two pitchers named Nathanael Perez in the Blue Jays system. One is with Dunedin and the other in the DSL. Its an unusual spelling of Nathanael but maybe popular in the DR as both were born there.
