Dunedin 12 Bradenton 5
FCL Blue Jays 4 FCL Tigers 5
This is what I noted from yesterday's games.
Only five hits for the Jays. Cullen Large had two hits and two RBI. Forrest Wall also had two hits. Kevin Smith had a double.
Nick Allgeyer started but was pulled after 40 pitches. Jon Harris, just up from AA, gave up four runs and took the loss.
Demi Orimoloye homered and had three hits. Samad Taylor had two hits out of the leadd of spot and drove in two runs. Chavez Young had two hits in the number two spot. And Otto Lopez in the three spot had a double and two RBI.
Johnny Barbato had one of his best starts, one run in five innings.
The C's scored four in the first, but ended that inning tied at four. So they scored five in the second and held that lead until the sixth before succumbing. Pitching has not been a strength of the C's. In this game four pitchers were used, all of whom were scored upon.
On the hitting side, every hitter had at least one hit. Davis Schneider had three including a home run, and drove in four. Rafael Lantigua also had three hits and drove in three runs. Luis De Los Santos and DJ Neal had two hits each.
Eleven hits for the D Jays but not many for the big prospects. Orelvis was 0-6 and left eight baserunners on. Addison Barger was 3-4 and hit his tenth home run. Dasan Brown was 2-3 with three walks.
The hot hitting Jays were outhit 15-9 by the Tigers. Michael Dominguez, who pitched well in 2019, started, took the loss, and is pitching to a 5.00 ERA so far in 2021. The top of the order hit well for the Jays. Amell Brazoban went 4-5 with a triple and a home run out of the lead off spot. Gabriel Martinez was 2-3 with two walks in the two spot. Rikelbin De Castro was 0-3 and is now hitting .169. He has 21 K's in 59 at-bats. His performance has been one of the most disappointing this season.
