The affiliates won two out of three. Dunedin's game against Tampa was postponed due to Hurricane Elsa.

Buffalo 3 Rochester 2

The Herd pulled this one off by scoring three times in the ninth inning to wipe out a 2-0 lead by the Nationals affiliate. Kevin Smith reached second on a throwing error and was singled home by Alejandro Kirk, who is hitting .353 so far in Triple-A. Tyler White then smoked a two-out, two-run home run with pinch-runner Richard Ureņa aboard to give the Bisons the lead. White had two of Buffalo's five hits. Riley Adams and Logan Warmoth had the others.

Thomas Hatch put together five innings of shutout ball with just one hit, one hit batter and three walks. He struck out six and had three of his four outs in play on the ground. Jeremy Beasley had a scoreless sixth but Port Coquitlam, BC native Curtis Taylor gave up the first two runs of the game in the seventh. Hobie Harris allowed a hit and whiffed two for a donut in the eighth to get the win. Kirby Snead struck out a pair for the save in a perfect ninth.

Binghamton 3 New Hampshire 2

Johnny Barbato had a quality start, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk over six innings. One of the runs came home on a wild pitch. He struck out eight and spread his eight outs in play evenly between the ground and the air. Fitz Stadler kept the Mets affiliate in check by striking out four over two perfect frames.

The FC's offence came on solo home runs by Otto Lopez and Tanner Kirwer. Chavez Young had the only two-hit game. Vinny Capra, L.J. Talley and Chris Bec had the other base knocks. Bec stole his sixth base of the year in seven tries and is a career 38-for-42 over his three-year career. Austin Martin was hit by a pitch and walked and Jordan Groshans heard ball four once. Groshans struck out in the fourth inning and was replaced at short in the bottom half of the frame by Lopez.

Vancouver 9 Spokane 3

Monty's Mounties moved back over the .500 mark with a win over the Rockies affiliate by racking up a converted touchdown over the first two innings. Tanner Morris doubled twice to go 3-for-5, scoring three runs and driving in three. Rafael Lantigua singled twice, walked twice, scored three times and stole a base in the leadoff spot. He played in right field Tuesday but had taken over in center for the injured Cameron Eden, who has been placed on the seven-day injured list. Sebastian Espino and Luis De Los Santos drove in two runs each with Espino getting a double. John Aiello extended his hitting streak to five games with a single after coming off the injured list last week.

Adam Kloffenstein got through five innings to get the win but needed 92 pitches to do it. He surrendered two runs on four hits, two walks and a hit by pitch but struck out five. Nine of his 10 outs in play were on the fake turf of Hillsboro. Alex Nolan put up a pair of donuts to get around two hits and a walk, striking out one. Connor Law allowed a run on two hits and two walks in two innings but rung up four.

Promising start by Hatch.  I'd be happy to see him pitching out of the pen in the bigs right now, but it seems the plan remains to stretch him out as a starter.  Kirby Snead continues to look like a viable bullpen option as well, but opportunities there are only going to decline going forward.

It's gotta be tough to be a middle IF / utility guy in AAA with us right now.  Valera, Colon and Urena are all having strong enough seasons to earn a call-up if there was an opportunity.

Thornton down to clear room for Richards which is an upgrade immediately.

No Groshans in the lineup for New Hampshire tonight. He also has not been placed on the IL (yet?). Hopefully its just a minor niggle.

Will Robertson has been out since early May. What happened to him?
